Network Prompts
ONE: @XX_BLAZEIT69 You’ve just downloaded a brand new application that you found in a building to your tablet. It turns out it’s some sort of username assignment program. Using it allows you to select current active usernames and rename them into new ones that only you can change. But with great power comes great responsibility—will you use this new program to give people usernames they’d like in place of an unfortunate one they gave themselves before they realized it couldn’t be changed…or will you give them something you think is more fitting for them, flattering or otherwise?
TWO: CONTENT WARNING It’s around the time that new arrivals should be appearing on the network, but you’re noticing a bit of a bigger influx than normal. When you click on one of the posts by one of them, you’re redirected to a flood of disturbing text and images that disappears completely once you manage to exit out—as if it had never been there in the first place. Maybe you should warn the others to be careful of what they click on. Or maybe you can discuss it with those who have already made the same mistake as you did. Perhaps you can set up a code system to differentiate the fake posts from the real ones.
Action Prompts
THREE: WALKING IN CIRCLES You’ve been walking all day, tirelessly, but somehow, even though you’re sure you’ve been walking in a straight line you keep passing the same landmarks and coming back to the same house you started from. You’re not sure if it’s your imagination or if you’re actually getting turned around, but you’re determined not to stop until you’ve found a new place to sleep in. Unfortunately, the longer you try, the closer you get to lockdown. Maybe the one you’re traveling with will be able to help you get your bearings before you both freeze to death?
FOUR: TOPSY TURVY It's past lockdown, and it should be a quiet and peaceful night - as quiet and peaceful as any night can get in Norfinbury, anyway. And you've even managed to find somebody to bunker down with! But about an hour or so into the lockdown, things start to seem just a little... off. Furniture you could swear was on one side of the room suddenly appears on the other. You might hear footsteps from up above you - even if there's no second floor. Or you might hear whispers, snatches of conversation just quiet enough to be unintelligible. Is your buddy messing with you? Or is this all just in your head?
[Charles isn't exactly happy about this either, Shelly. It's cold as shit out here, and something is Very Wrong, and- oh my god did they. Did they seriously just end up back at the same damn house again???
It's very tempting to just. Sink down into the snow next to her.
But instead he kicks the nearest piece of rubble, instantly regretting it.]
Ow, shit. God!
[He looks back at Shelly, and, Jesus, is she crying? He isn't sure he knows how to deal with crying.]
Hey, come on. We can't just stay here. Either we keep walking or we're gonna- [don't say freeze to death, don't say freeze to death-] or we're gonna be in a lot more trouble than tired.
[He glances around them at the gathering dark. Shit, anything could be hiding out there, and the longer they trudge around in circles, the less chance they have of getting in away from it. Executive decision time.]
Maybe we should just stay in the place we started? [He hates giving up. It's against his nature. But he hates the idea of getting this kid killed even more.]
Uh did anyone else click on something weird? Pretty sure I didn't just imagine that happening, really hoping no one else saw that because... Yikes.
[FOUR]
[Skye did her best to ignore the sounds at first. Maybe she was just hallucinating, since everything else was quiet. Sometimes your hearing messed with you, right? But then she's awoken to the sound of a loud crash and she's on her feet in seconds.
She wasn't the only one who heard it though, and she looked at the other person who was awoken by the sounds.]
Ads? [ What. Kanan hasn't been looking around at the new arrivals - too depressing - so he hasn't seen anything like that yet. ] What would they be selling, snowshoes?
TWO @gameking U-um, excuse me - whoa! - whoever's in charge of the network might want to clean it up some.
[Somehow, in the midst of trying to click out of it, voice turns on. This technology is a little too advanced for poor Yuugi, who realizes he's probably going to get mistaken for a child whether by voice or looks.]
I mean, it's not the worst I've ever seen but it's a bit much...
FOUR [Yuugi doesn't scare very easily, at least not anymore. Having shared his body with the spirit of a Pharaoh for a good few years and had more than one supervillain after the Millennium Puzzle and the end of the world, he's used to it sadly enough. But an hour or so after lockdown, a noise sends chills down his spine from where he's hunched on a bed, shuffling through his deck rather than getting anything resembling sleep.
(How can he sleep? He's too worried.)
Violet eyes flick up to look at the door, pausing before turning his attention back to what he was doing. It's not much, but it's a comfort, knowing that he has his deck, like having friends there. Yuugi shuffles again before there's another noise and he strains his ears to hear, whispers coming from...somewhere. He turns his attention to the only other person in the room - someone strange and new - before speaking.]
...Did you say something?
[ooc: canon point is post series, pre-Dark Side of Dimensions c:]
We should have found a cabin by now--a building. Something!
[They had been walking for..how long had they been walking for? It had been close to an hour now, hadn't it? Fitz laces his fingers together behind his head and tries to take a few deep breaths, his chest aching and his body feeling more numb than he's comfortable with.
They needed to find shelter soon. They couldn't keep this up.]
What if we...what if we left something. Right here. A marker--and then we could start walking in a straight line and see what happens.
Oh! [ In contrast to just seconds ago, Elle's expression brightens measurably at the thought. ] Good idea, Fitz! Let's try that!
[ Already, she's putting her pack on the ground and starting to rummage through it. Something... Something to leave there. Something they won't need... Admittedly, with their supplies as limited as they are, there's not a lot she wants to discard, but...
...but eventually, she pulls out a small umbrella. ] What about this?
[Fitz turns to look at her and can't help but look a bit shocked that she seemed so pleased with his suggestion. Maybe he wasn't doing as badly as he thought he was.
He slips is own bag off his back and kneels down to go through it, pausing here and there to clench and unclench his hands as they refuse to do what he wants them to do--
His gaze snaps up when Elle speaks, the engineer perking up slightly at the sight of the umbrella.]
Yes! Perfect!
[Leaving his bag where it is, he moves over to where she's crouched and takes the umbrella--a bit more like snatching but he doesn't mean anything by it, he's just excited--looking it over then testing out whether it opens or not.]
This will stand out against the snow well enough, I think. Especially if we leave it open. [He turns a lopsided grin on her, resting the umbrella against his shoulder.] Right?
There hasn't been any news of anyone getting any sort of ... physical consequence, for finding the messages, right? Just shock and fear? If that's the case, then we can't really do anything else but bear with it for now.
[ It's a good thing that there are two beds. Vanitas is sitting up with his back against the headboard. Arms are folded against his chest and his attention is set on the falling snow outside of the window. The constant sound of the cards brushing against one another is much more enjoyable then the kid's stupid voice, but he's still pondering if it'll be worth disrupting by making him play fifty-two cards pick up.
The peace is shattered when Yuugi opens his mouth. Raising a brow as his gazes shifts to the kid. ]
