Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW... Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.
TWO: CABIN FEVER Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.
Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.
FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?
( he is not practiced in groups that don't consist of his crew or his men that he trusts, but it's certainly true that traveling this place alone isn't wise. he's been selfish and self centered for a very long time, perhaps he always will be to a point... he's still willing to try reaching out. for the first time in a very long time. )
aye, that's true. I'm not sure even I would suggest it, but if someone wanted to hide it would be hard to sniff them out. not a cliff. a wall of sorts, made of snow. wasn't able to climb it from where I was. I don't disagree it's a good place to start, though.
[oh, finally, someone else in the same boat apollo is. he's got a brief concern that this person definitely looks like a kid, and there's apparently no age limit here, but—
god though, he's definitely freezing too.]
I'm pretty sure we're all stuck out here. ... Are you gonna be alright?
[ aye? she smiles at the screen, amused that people still say "aye." ]
They'll have to come out eventually if they are hiding. It'll be hard to make it here alone.
A wall of snow - those could be all around the perimeter. [ sealing them in, essentially. trapped. but if they're trapped inside, what happened to everyone else? how did they get out, where did they go? ] We'll have to figure out a way to get over them, or through them. There could be tools somewhere.
( to be fair, most people don't. the pirate just talks like the old man he secretly is. )
it'll be better if we all maintain a network, and I think sooner or later the majority will realize that. this is a dangerous environment to be a lone wolf.
all I can say is the formation doesn't seem natural. ( meaning, intentional... to what end he didn't know. ) there might be tools around, I haven't looked that far. my hook is usually all right for climbing but it didn't do me any good here.
I won't let anything happen to her if I can. I promise.
[ and Bae never goes back on his word. he knows the effects of broken promises, has both seen and felt the destruction it can bring. ]
I'll search for it for us. We'll all need the map. With the snow, everything has begun to look the same.
[ and who better to draft a map than the pirate himself. ] If I find something, I'll bring it to you. If we can't find paper, can we use fabric? Can you make maps on that? [ and for all that Bae has grown up in the time he's had in Neverland, there's still a hint of bright eyed boy in there, too. ]
( excluding a very notable exception but he's not going to bring that up. he does know that Tink and Bae both are a great deal stronger than they look. he worries anyway. and as long as he is too far away to do anything to help them he probably always will. )
aye, fabric would work. a tight weave, preferably, or it'll be hard to write on. we can make do with what we have, it's just a matter of knowing our options.
Yotsuba had been about to ask where Prussia had been, but when he said that the can was a gift, her smile became even wider, along with her eyes. Sure, she didn't know how to open the can, but a gift was still a gift, and it was always awesome to get them!~
"Really?! Thank you! You're a really good person! Good and tough!"
And with that, she'd actually examine the can's label, since that looked interesting. Since it was hers now, she wanted to look at it.
"Pi..Pintoe beans. I wonder what they are? Are they yummy?"
It seemed like they were some kind of food, but she'd never had it before. At least, not that she knew.
Of course it is an awesome thing to get because he gave it! Gifts from Prussia are always wonderful and inspiring. Why he wouldn't be surprised if she decided to learn to cook right here and now. He beams back at her, a little puffed up with pride.
"Of course they are!" he insists. "Beans are great. Not as great as potatoes, but still good, full of protein. Cook 'em over a fire and you'll be good to go. If we can find some seasonings in the kitchen, they'll--" He had to stop so he could adjust the cans in his arms before another one fell and hit him on the foot. He should really put these down.
[ If he'd said he was sorry, Touka would have just snorted anyway. She didn't need anyone's pity, not when it came to this. ]
... Rabbit. [ Even now, she'd stick to her alias. Call it an old habit from how things were back home. It's not much of an introduction, but she manages to let her expression soften. ]
Have you ever... Has this ever happened to you before?
It's a small comfort to know that whoever or whatever brought us here wasn't biased in any way towards the poor or the elite. How does it feel to be equal? Maybe even reliant.
While Yotsuba had no idea who this man was, to her, he was awesome right now, since he seemed like a super nice guy who could take a right, a left, and another right, and still give gifts to people, just because! Of course, she had no idea how to actually open the can and cook the beans, but she was more than willing to learn. She'd actually been about to ask Prussia how they could make a fire, since she never had before, but..when another can fell and him on the foot once again, Yotsuba picked it up, smiling at him and thinking that he was okay, since he was so tough.
"Yotsuba can help you search for sea..seasonings and carry things! Yotsuba doesn't know how to make a fire though. Can you teach me?! And tell me how to open the cans?!"
[ scandalizing is one of Ygritte's feature strengths; without it, she'd never have escaped Jon Snow's capture out by the Fist of the First Men. he'd been too busy blushing like a maiden at the filth that'd been coming out of her mouth to stop her from running.
to this end, she'll see how far she can press her luck with Bard; she's already on the move as well, the camera shaking slightly as she trudges through the icy drifts toward the hollowed-out building. ]
An' what's wrong with a man of your age? Sure you've a few more lines on your face than a younger man, but 's long as your cock still works and y'know where t' put it...
[ ...perhaps she's counting on his indignation to keep him warmer. ]
"That's the spirit!" Prussia precariously brings the cans over to near the fireplace and kneels to drop them all, hands reaching out swiftly to collect any that flop and try to roll away. He makes a stack and pushes them up next to the woodpile to keep them out of the way. Then he stands up and brushes off his knees before heading back for the door.
"Come on, kid, we'll look for an opener," he doesn't motion for her to follow, but just assumes she will so he keeps talking. "If the opener isn't around we'll just use a knife! Nothing a little muscle won't fix. Making the fire is easy! All you need is the wood, a flame, and something to keep it going until the wood starts burning. You ever see a bonefire before?"
[It's certainly off-putting, and the beginnings of all sorts of protests and fatherly tirades come to mind as he sets his tablet down to finish bundling up and pull his backpack back on, but Bard suddenly remembers being young and brash, eager to prove he was all grown up in all sorts of ways that frankly embarrass him now. So he's going to do something completely horrible, and we'll just see who's indignant enough to not suffer so much from the cold.]
if we can find some sticks we can make our own easy enough in a fire, really, I didn't even think of that I've found a decent enough shelter by the north but it's out a ways, I can meet you somewhere more middling.
Man-made? [ that answers a few questions, but asks even more. were the walls built to keep them in or keep something else out? ] That's good to know. If they can be made, they can be destroyed.
Grappling hook? If that doesn't work, we might want to start figuring out a way through it instead of over it.
[ it's just snow, right? admittedly, she doesn't have much experience with this weather, but it's just ice crystals. a wall built of it can't be impervious. ]
I think trying to go through it would just end up on it falling in on itself. hard to say. I wish it were a grappling hook, but no. it's as close as I've got to a second hand.
( usually he doesn't have to explain these things. people see his hook and that's the end of it. he gets a few blunt questions here or there but it's rare he proactively explains his lacking appendage. )
Maybe it falling in on itself is what we want, just not falling in on us. If we find a way to destroy it, we can start looking for civilization.
[ except, back where she's from, there isn't a whole lot of civilization. certainly not very friendly ones. of course, there isn't any Maine, either. ]
Assuming there is any. This is an odd question, but what can you tell me about where you come from?
[ She soon joins him, stretching her feet out towards the flames until she can feel the heat seeping through her clothing. Leaning back on her arms, she wiggles her toes to restore circulation as she speaks. ]
You can say that again.
[ Although she won't admit it, the constant isolation would get to the ninja from time to time, making her just want to get out and do something. But locked doors make that impossible, and the chance of freezing to death unpalatable.
Although, knowing her, she'll say "to hell with it" and do it anyway. She's that impulsive. ]
That's a shame, really. Sometimes a person has to relax so they can work better, but I know what you mean.
[ Sighing, she leans forward and hugs her knees to her chest. she had actually been working the last time she had been swimming as a matter of fact, her responsibilities always looming above her. Not that she'd ever shirk them, but perhaps just once, it'd be nice not to have to worry about them.
Turning her head she gives him a smile. ]
But one is a sure thing, and the other isn't. Trust me, taking the chance on people is worth it.
And no, you don't have to worry. There's no way I would have let you go back out there. [ Hell, she probably would have left so he could have the place if things had come to that. But secretly, she's glad it hadn't; she's enjoying the company. ]
Nope we're not alone, and there's plenty of wood to keep it warm. Now, if we found some blankets or something, we can stretch out here.
[ Yes, she trusts him that much; although, because of her training, she'll be on guard even when asleep. Strange new place and all. ]
