[ The sound of another voice prompted Touka to stiffen, raising her head slowly in order to check her surroundings. There was, obviously, no one nearby, so she turned her attention to her discarded tablet, picking it up and placing it in her lap.
It was a voice that she didn't recognize, but honestly, she didn't recognize anyone's voice in this god forsaken shit hole. He sounded young, maybe her age, or at the very least within a few years' range of it. She could have just as easily pretended the voice belonged to someone she knew; a meaningless effort and stupid sentiment in the face of what was about to happen to her, but she couldn't deny that part of her wished she could talk to someone from back home.
