Heck, he didn't think he was even going to get to see Chris again, but while he knows he's far from blameless (to put it ever-so-mildly), it's a contributor to the fact that it feels... like a cheat, almost. That here they are, and that his once-oldest and strongest friendship isn't right there, between them.

That said. Focus on this, the fix they're in - see if they can work on some of it in the process.
