When the man stumbles, Grey is halfway to moving, but he stops himself. He doesn't know this man or anything else and to do that could make him vulnerable. He's been taught all his life not to take unnecessary risks.

The man has markings on his skin much like Grey does and he stays crouched down against the wall silently watching, taking his measure. Though he has track pants, his only clothes that he's had for years, he misses his knife; without it, he really does feel naked.
