TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: SPAM IS MEANT FOR A CAN
You awoke today to find a private message in your inbox full of glitchy text from an unreadable username. It doesn't seem to be from @ADMIN, and it's doubtful that any of your fellow unfortunate survivalists have the ability to send a bunch of garbage text from a dummy username. Any attempts to contact the sender of the message only yield silence.

Perhaps your friends on the network will have a better idea of what's going on.

TWO: DING DONG PING PONG
You found an app on an SD card that lets you play a game--the app simply refers to it as "game," but those who are familiar with Earth's gaming history will recognize it as Pong. The graphics have been updated, but the mechanics are as simple as ever. Just bounce the ball back and forth and try to hit it past your opponent. This version lets you play with a friend over the network and supports chat simultaneously, so you can video or voice chat while playing with someone!

Or you can use text, but that would probably be inconvenient while you're trying to play.

Action Prompts
THREE: BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE
The blizzard has been raging worse than usual for nearly a week now, making travel incredibly dangerous. You and your travelling companion have been stuck in the same house since the weather went out of control, and it's starting to have an effect. While you've not yet succumb to the dangerous fugue that would lead you out into the snow, cabin fever is definitely starting to set in for you...and whoever you're stuck with.

As long as you keep telling yourself the eyes on the walls aren't real. You're the only one who can see them, after all.

FOUR: A TENT-ATIVE FRIENDSHIP
Everything has locked down for the night, and it looks like you're trapped outside. This almost certainly means death, but maybe you don't have to take it lying down. You walk for a while, and--what's that? Through the snow, the light of your tablet faintly illuminates the shape of a tent. It seems someone else is stuck out here, too, but they've been luckier in their searches than you.

Time to go see if they'll take pity on you for the night. You probably don't have much longer otherwise...

[ Her figure was pretty lanky in the shadows of the tent, though. If she was some monster sent to rip him from his sweet tent, she would be a pretty piss-poor one. Sorry not sorry.

The voice snaps and she suddenly has both hands up from her pockets. Her poor fingers.... ]

Whoa! Hold on there, put the pointy weapon down or we're going to have problems! My name's Sasha and my.. uh... ID is Sasha...? Maybe?

[Oh, if only Dustin was more concerned about the anomalies. The weapon stays raised.]

You have a problem with me, you have a problem with the tent. I'll drag this fucker down with us if I have to. Don't test me.

[It's the only warning she'll get. Thankfully there's not too long of a pause after, since Dustin's already in the process of verifying her information against the list of names and IDs he's compiled on his tablet. It feels like ages for him; ideally he would have all of this information memorized, but things are different here, his mind isn't as sharp as it should be. It's incredibly frustrating.]

[But that's not much of a change, honestly--everything frustrates Dustin. Including the fact that Sasha's info checks, leading to the gnawing realization that he'll have to share the tent with her before she freezes. Can't get intel from her if she's dead. With a flustered growl, Dustin lowers the fire poker.]

...Alright, get your ass in here, make it quick. Come on!

Be cool, man! I'm not even - look, do you think I can even fight with chattering teeth?!

[ Because that's pretty distracting. And uncomfortable. She's chilled to the bones and that's with a jacket on. The exposed skin of her face got nipped at pretty harshly and she's trying to defuse a situation before she gets snowed out. That would be absolutely asking for a quick, cold death.

His invitation was accepted with a practical dive into the tent. She tries not to track snow, but hey that's nearly impossible, ain't it? ]

Thanks.

[ She mumbles, rubbing her arms viciously to get the feeling back. ]

I promise I'm not trying to capture your tent as my own - just the first thing I stumbled upon.

THIS IS V LATE MANY APOLOGIES

[Thankfully the tent is significantly warmer than the outdoors (although that's not saying much, considering); the source for this appears to be from the three candles burning in a metal mixing bowl set to one side of the tent, which is also the primary source of flickering light within. The other side is padded out with a blanket resting on top of several collapsed cardboard boxes, and at the far corner of that, looking very uncomfortable at having to share his space, is a small, shaggy-haired man guarding his backpack and tablet. His entire left forearm is wrapped in some sort of poor man's cast made of foam, towels, and duct tape, but he seems to have no trouble holding onto that fire poker with it. No, he hasn't let go of it yet. Why on earth would he do that?]

Close the flap--quickly!

[His voice lowers to a hiss as the sound of the wind dies down, but aside from a few anxious and disdainful glances at the candles and the snow Sasha's brought in with her, Dustin doesn't move and keeps a wary eye on her.]

Of course. At night, in a blizzard, out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, you just happened to find my tent. [Dustin pauses just long enough to let his skepticism settle in, but not long enough to argue the point before he barrels onward.] Where did you come from?
