TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: MAP CRUNCH
It looks like all the maps that you and your fellow captives have been spending so much time building have corroded and the files are unable to be viewed any longer. You've planned a rendezvous with another party in a building you've never been to before--and now you're not sure how to get there. Maybe someone on the network will be able to help guide you to your destination.

TWO: SOMEBODY CALL 9-1-1!
You got inside before lockdown, but not without the cost of sustaining an injury in your haste. You're fortunate enough to have found a first aid kit in one of the cabinets, but without medical experience you decide to contact the network for some advice in cleaning your wound. Or maybe you'd just like the company and reassurance while you try to stop the bleeding.

Action Prompts
THREE: DEFINING LANDMARKS
You and your traveling companion decide to spend the day building a landmark up out of the snow in front of the building you're currently taking shelter within. The more distinctive landmarks that buildings have, the better, right? But architectural nuances may prove difficult when the cold is biting against you, pressuring you to give up and go back inside. And could there be something more sinister lurking just out of sight...?

FOUR: PARTY CRASHER
A monster has been chasing you and your traveling companion for what feels like hours, and you're quickly losing steam. You manage to make it to a building--but there's plenty of time left before lockdown will secure you inside, and the monster isn't giving up. It throws and claws itself up against the door, and when it realizes that you have your weight against it, heads for the windows--and any other crevice may give it entry. You better think fast if you don't want it to force its way inside. It's a good thing you have more than one set of hands available to take action.

One - @Phoenician; voice

Hardcopies. [Guangqi's voice is dripping with disgust. What an absolutely backwards gravity hole this is. Just imagine, walking around with a piece of paper trying to get anywhere.] We should've thought about it. Hardcopies, ugh!

[But it's nothing the other man can help, and he's supposed to be adjusting. Learning. He gives an impatient sigh.] Where are you? Give me some landmarks. Coordinates. Whatever you've got.

Considering all the things I've seen written on walls, I would have at least expected make shift maps as well. [He's not sure if that disgust is aimed at him or not, Nate really not good at judging tones without some sort of telepathic intervention. Learning this all fresh is going to be a not so fun challenge for him and he really doesn't have the time for it.]

I'm at one of the convenience stores. Last time I glanced at the map, it put me Northwest of the graveyard.

Maybe no one here is any good with normal space cartography. Apparently it's more complex than it looks. But the whole thing is just so - you said it - makeshift that it wouldn't surprise me if no one's even thought about it. We're building back civilization from the ground up here...

[More than a bit of all this babbling is just to keep Nate busy while Guangqi tries to remember anything about the graveyard and the thrift store. One of the things he's building from the ground up is how to organize information without relying on a photographic memory.]

Isn't the thrift store downtown? You're far out. You need to get to the tunnels. Polar south until the ice wall, then west - you can tell directions, right?

Or they just hadn't considered something like hardcopies being necessary. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't generally quite dependent on technology to get by. [Sometimes a little too much, apparently.] It'll have to be something we consider implementing, especially since we're building things from the ground up.

[He doesn't mind. It reminds him a bit of a friend back home and it's something of a comfort.]

Yes. I had a feeling it was going to be a hike. [Nothing he shouldn't be able to handle.] I can. I'll need to get my bearings once I'm outside since there aren't too many landmarks to go by that aren't cabins but I should be able to figure it out. Is the entrance to the tunnels obvious?

That's because technology works. [Can his resentment be any more obvious?] The standards here must be an embarrassment for everything to be in a state of such total shutdown. We're literally going back to scratching on stone tablets. Cave paintings! [Not quite a rant yet, but it's close.]

Anyway, you won't need a lot of landmarks. It's just along the wall. I know that much, though I haven't been there myself. You'll just have to check the houses until you find it. Are you in a hurry? In relative terms.

Technology is a crutch that we, unfortunately, aren't going to be able to let go of anytime soon. [Especially him.] But I think this makes it obvious we need to resort to some alternative means as well.

[Even if he has to be one of the individuals to do it, it'd be better than ending up in the dark.]

Understood. Not exactly but the less time I take, the better. If only because I am meeting up with others. I don't want to make them wait for too long in one place.
