Jade is a bit of ~a mystery~ to Beckett. On the one hand, she's clearly human - very human - perhaps not in the strictly technical sense, but the way she conducts herself pings all of his "sentimental mortal big on friendship going to end badly" signs, and he'd normally avoid that. On the other hand, he knows some about everything she's apparently been through, and he's deeply impressed by her apparent ability to roll with it. That is probably the reason he thinks so well of her friendship with Brian - they seem strangely right for each other, and to the extent that he invests himself in other people's relationships (which is still a very small extent) he hopes she can help Brian in ways he clearly can't. If he had the time and mental energy, he would have been very interested in sitting down and having a long talk with her comparing adventures and notes. NERDING OUT. But now it might be depressing because apparently she saved the world and he didn't, so. Nerdblocked. Sob.
