That's not really a fair question. Some of the fish in my world are sentient and thus can become friends with people.

You only say that because you haven't been there yet. It's actually a pretty cool place, once you get past the 'things that go bump in the night are real' thing.

Yeah. I was there. Met the zombies and the ash things. And got possessed and tried to kill you. Your world is stupid.

It's not always that bad, I swear. That was a very specific thing that happened to me, it doesn't happen normally.

You sure seemed prepared for something that doesn't happen on the regular, Father.

[lionson]

Well, what can I say? I'm one of the lucky guys who gets to deal with all the unusual stuff most people don't even have to think about.

[rubikscomplex]

What's the most unusual you've dealt with?

[There's a slight shift in his tone to something mildly interested. The unusual and bizarre are House's specialties, after all. He's the diagnostician of last resort.]

[He honestly has to think about that one, because he has Seen Some Shit.]

Do you mean 'unusual' as in 'fucked up', or 'unusual' as in 'that is actually kind of funny because it really shouldn't be happening'?

Both.

Well, for the latter, one time I met one of Satan's kids. One of his full-blooded kids.

[Specifying that because House knows about Rin and Yukio.]

He turned out to be a fucking otaku, and decided to live in the human world and not help his brothers with their 'try to take over the human world' plan because he wanted to sit around and watch anime all day.

...And who said anime never did anything for anybody? What about the former?

[lionson]

The funny part is, he's become one of humanity's strongest allies against the invasion of out world, since he's the oldest brother and he really doesn't like his little siblings messing with stuff. Since it would disrupt his animes and all.

[And Shiro kind of made friends with him whoops]

The most fucked up? That one's harder. Human sacrifice is always it's own unique brand of fucked up, honestly. Any time I come across humans who have been tricked into doing that, it's always difficult. Especially when it's with kids.

Zombies are pretty bad too, I hate dealing with those. And then some of my co-workers are worse than the very demons we fight. Honestly I kind of hate being here if only because I hate to think of who they replaced me with.

[House raises a brow.] Bad background screening for the other guys or do they just not care if you can scare the demons out of people?

[lionson]

Mostly the second one. You have to be at least a little unhinged to last long against the forces of Hell. They try not to give the really messed up people any power within the organization, though.

[rubikscomplex]

'Try' being the operative word. [He shrugs.] Well, they keep me corralled in my department at the hospital for a reason, too. So you're unhinged, huh? How's that working out for you?

[lionson]

Minimally unhinged! They gave me some rank and responsibilities, so I'm not as bad as some of the others.

And it works out fine for me.
