TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: YOUR COOPERATION IS APPRECIATED
When you wake up, you find that a new application has been downloaded to your tablet. It's titled "SURVEY" and is exactly what it claims to be--although there's no explanation to why it's appeared or what it is for other than the note that claims the survey is not opt-out and that your cooperation is appreciated. And more troubling, the questions become more sinister the farther in you answer. Such questions as, "on a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your stay?" and "have your needs been met in a timely manner?" become more akin to, "if you had to chose between the two, would you eat your hands or your feet to stave off the hunger?" and "are you sure you are not the last one still alive?"

Perhaps someone on the Network would like to discuss what this could mean--and if there are any consequences behind finishing or refusing to take the survey.

TWO: NOT SO HELPFUL AVATARS
Every tablet has the option for a customizable avatar that will talk to you and keep your tablet in order. Maybe you set it up, maybe you never checked it. Either way, it keeps popping up unrequested and being sort of... Odd. Flickering, talking in strange, mechanical voices, offering advice that's unhelpful at best and actively harmful at worst... Maybe it's even telling the entire network some things you've been doing you'd rather everyone didn't know.

Time to call tech support. Unfortunately, the best option is other people on the network. Good luck.

Action Prompts
THREE: SPIDERS IN THE WALLS
Somehow you or your travel companion injured themselves. A quick call to the admin fixed this, but now you can't help but be gripped with the burning curiosity of where the helpful spiders she deployed have gone. You saw them scramble toward the vents, but by the time paralysis wore off they'd completely disappeared. Only now you can't stop thinking about them. Where do they go to? How can they be trapped or followed? You swear you hear little mechanical pattering inside the walls. Maybe you can find some sort of tool to help you break into a vent around the house. Or maybe your companion can convince you to rest before you hurt yourself.

FOUR: SCHOOL DAYS
You've ended up in the elementary school. Maybe you're grabbing more food, maybe you're exploring. Either way, this place is creepy; the atmosphere is the sort that gets the hair on the back of your neck rising (potentially metaphorically, if you don't have hair or a neck). It's not long before strange things start happening. The sound of running and screaming children, doors slamming in far off or nearby hallways, pianos playing... What's going on? It's hard to tell what's really happening from what isn't happening. Maybe someone who's also exploring has some idea.

[1; voice]

[honestly, they think the survey is kind of humorous.

what's less funny is suddenly waking up in what feels like your old body, in what feels almost like having a soul, but hey. that's way less of a problem than being alone. alone for the first time in what feels like hundreds of years. hell, it may be.

their voice is that of a child; high-pitched and trying far too hard to sound mature, formal. it's cold, and that's the only part that seems natural.]

Greetings. Does anyone have any information as to the nature of this survey that I've been tasked with answering? Namely; who needs to know this, and what for?

[They should have realized this could be a possibility. They really should have. But they didn't and now... Well. Here they are. With nothing to do but keep going.]

I dunno. I got it too. Maybe everybody did.

[Probably no need to introduce themselves. They'll know who it is.]

Are you okay?
thefallenchild: (I DONT TRUST YOU)

[personal profile] thefallenchild 2016-06-28 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Frisk?

[well, they're not alone, anymore.

go figure, that they're the first one to contact them. the latest fallen child; the last fallen child. the kid who, for all intents and purposes, did what they wanted to do--but infinitely better.

they quash their jealousy for a moment, in favor of a more important question.]

What are you doing here?
despiteeverything: from "The Dogs of Future Past pt. 1" (ah well)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2016-06-28 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's really them. The first fallen child, the one who had mattered so much to all the Underground. Whom Asriel had been willing to move heaven and earth and time and space for. That's their question not answered, but it doesn't really matter. Nobody's really okay when they get to Norfinbury. They do grin a bit, softly.]

That's what I was gonna ask. Um. I've been here... Two n' a half months.

[And because they definitely deserve fair warning.]

Mom- Toriel. She's here too.
thefallenchild: (neutral....)

[personal profile] thefallenchild 2016-06-28 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[after a moment's silence, they respond. they pretend that their hand isn't clenched into a fist, knuckles white, and that their other hand--wrapped around this strange tablet--isn't shaking.

mom.

it's not fair, it's not fair, but they swallow thickly, trying to contain their rage. it was also not fair of them to expect Asriel to go along with them murdering an entire village's worth of humans. no matter how much those humans deserved it.]

I shouldn't be here, then.

[they'd like to think that they disguise the anger in their voice rather well. all that's left is the bitterness.]
despiteeverything: (solemn moment)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2016-06-28 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Frisk gnaws a little at their lip. They do hear that bitterness, and while they don't feel comfortable trying to really guess or assume the source, it does make them feel a bit more hesitant.]

None of us are supposed to be here, really... We dunno who brought us here. Or how to get back. [a beat] She'll still be happy to see you though.

[Even if they'll all wish it could be under better circumstances. Frisk can't help but worry a lot. Chara hated humanity, and not without reason. But here in Norfinbury, you had to work with who you could, how you could, and being alone was just as dangerous as being together.]

Did you get to read the guides at all? Or is that stupid quiz thing not letting you look anywhere else?

[It'd be just like Norfinbury to force even newcomers to play their sadistic games before they can get to information that'll let them survive.]
thefallenchild: (=))

[personal profile] thefallenchild 2016-06-29 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Who knows? I haven't tried.

[they stare down at the tablet, fighting the urge to throw it across the room. that would be childish, wouldn't it? and chara is no child. they're a demon.

sometimes, they have to remind themself.]

I don't think she will be. Even if she hasn't figured out what my plan was, I still led to her real son's death, after all.
despiteeverything: from "The Dogs of Future Past pt. 2" (C o n c e r n)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2016-06-29 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Frisk wants to keep arguing, because they're still pretty sure that Toriel does care. Care enough, certainly, to have taken Chara's body away from New Home for a proper burial. Care enough to visit that spot every day.

'Someone has to take care of the flowers.'

Asriel hadn't been the only one to say those words.

But there's other pressing matters to deal with, and Toriel herself will probably do an excellent job proving Frisk's point when she turns up. You couldn't delete posts from the network once made, not even your own (there've been a couple Frisk wishes they could). Not to mention they've been acting pretty suspiciously familiar with Chara already, and Toriel was already wary after that one anomaly that looked like Asriel.]

You really should look at them, if you can. This town has lotsa rules, and it's dangerous. Even for us.
thefallenchild: (=))

[personal profile] thefallenchild 2016-06-29 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I should probably answer these questions. I just can't help but be curious about the motives of whoever's behind this twisted little would-you-rather.

[their chest aches. they used to play that game with Asriel. time to change the subject. they force their voice to turn conversational, casual.]

So, what kind of danger are we talking about?
despiteeverything: from "The Dogs of Future Past pt. 7" (serious thinking)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2016-06-29 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
All kinds.

[Where to begin, really.]

You gotta find somewhere inside to stay when it's almost curfew. The doors'll lock and there's nothing you can do to get 'em open. Nothing at all. It gets even colder here at night, so cold you'll freeze and die no matter what you do.

[It's Frisk's turn to try to control the shaking in their balled-up fists. They still get nightmares of the night Toriel died.]

The weather makes it really hard to move and stay warm. Makes me miss Snowdin. [They grin a bit wistfully.] There's a couple places you can get food, but not a lot anywhere else. So you gotta be careful with that.

[That's... Mostly all for natural dangers.]

Also um... This place sorta has its own monsters, not like the ones in the Underground but... You gotta be careful with them for now. Something really bad happened here a long time ago, and they're still angry and hurting. If they find you um... They'll chase you, and you gotta get inside a house and keep em out until lockdown. If they catch you... They'll sorta eat you?

[They don't really get how it works, even having experienced it themselves.]

Me and Toriel, we're trying to learn more about how to help them, but we're still looking for clues. And not everybody here thinks we should try to help them.

[And there's a much more fierce scowl of frustration.]
thefallenchild: (=))

[personal profile] thefallenchild 2016-06-30 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you 'sort of' eat someone?

[they raise an eyebrow. the sarcastic nature of their gesture is completely thwarted, however, by the fact that they do not have video on. a shame, almost.]</small And, what does it matter if I die? I've already died! The monsters here are still probably worth more than I am.

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2016-06-30 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh my god Chara you do realize this is public right.... Frisk is just... going to fix that. They probably should have done that a while ago.]

That's not true! You're really important to so many people.

Besides.... I've already died once here. I didn't go back. Everything still went forward, and everybody remembered, even Mom. You're alive now, and this place can bring us back if we die.

[There's almost a pleading note to their voice. Death isn't a solution to a problem here, or at least not nearly as effective as it was in the Underground. Among all the other things they want Chara to understand.
thefallenchild: (at)

Re: > locked

[personal profile] thefallenchild 2016-06-30 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[they don't notice Frisk's change. at least, they don't seem to openly.]

Well, that certainly is different. And new. Though, I suppose that death has never quite stuck for me. At least I have my own body, now.

[as to whether they have a SOUL, now, they're not entirely sure.
]

So, what do I answer to this survey question, then. I'd prefer these anonymous humans not know what sorts of dismemberment I find marginally more tolerable.

[Her voice comes out soft, uncertain. Chara should not be alive, should not be here. She has buried this child, she visited their grave every day. How?

Why?]

Chara?
thefallenchild: (muted sad)

[personal profile] thefallenchild 2016-06-29 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[they were shaking already. but her voice is more than enough to send them toppling over the edge. it's a good thing they're not on video, because they can't contain their shakes; can barely contain how badly they want to cease existing, right this instant.

but they can't. and they can't ignore her, either.]

...Greetings, Toriel.

My child. [There are a million questions upon her lips, a rush of feelings and tangled reactions. What a mess this is, what a mess she is. The dead seem to rise here, so Chara should fit in fine.]

Where are you? How-? It is dangerous here, stay put so I can find you.

I don't know.

['my child.' even after all of this time? even after all of the pain, the suffering, the horrors that chara has put her through? truly, they'd underestimated toriel's capacity for love.

monsters truly are uncanny.]

I shall stay put. But I'm not certain of where I am.
