Ten Years Ago: A Timeskip Meme

Ten years ago our characters banded together and defeated whatever lives beneath town hall, escaping and leaving behind them an ordinary abandoned town. They were sent back to to their own lives and worlds, the instant they left, with only their memories and mental scarring as proof of the time they spent in Norfinbury.

Today, they receive a strange communication: an invitation, delivered in whatever format is most familiar to them. It's an invitation to return to Norfinbury for as little as a day or as long as a week. Will your character accept it for a chance to see friends long-dead or departed to other worlds? To get some proof that what they experienced ten years ago was real? ~~To murder someone one last time?~~

TL;DR We won, you were separated from your CR for ten years, come roleplay gross reunion time or whatever. Put up a toplevel with info on what your character's been up to or looks like now, tag around, etc. If your character's dead they can have magically lived through canon thanks to admin intervention or you could choose for them to have been dead this whole time if you're a butt.

[She does smile, actually. Old grudges are too old to be grudges, and there are worse things in this world and her own than Alfie. Her speech is not as robotic as it was; inflection has never become entirely automatic but she has more mental power and more experience to devote to it now.]

I am not not enjoying it. It is still very cold here, though. Are you enjoying yourself?

Not in the fucking least.

[But he gives her a little smile back anyway.]

[In more ways than one. It's weird to see Ecks looking and sounding less Ecks-like.]

I am very well. I am very very well. [Less Ecks-like, maybe, but never entirely normal.]

Yeah, looks like it, eh? Funny, that.

What did you do while we were gone?

I went home. I ran my business, got married, had a little girl. And now I'm back here.

[Which he absolutely hates, despite his conversational tone.]

Those things sound like good things. I am glad.

[Maybe because even after a decade of life experience, she still doesn't think "business" is suspicious in this context.]

[It's totally suspicious, Ecks. He's still very dangerous.]

Yeah. Thanks. I'm glad, too.

What've you been up to, then?

I became one of the Bloodborn and undid the evil places the gods created so their power would be diminished and the imposter gods could rise against them.

[As one does.]

I'm gonna make a guess, right, that this is something specific to your world.

[Utter seriousness now that she actually manages to convey:]

I hope so. They were very bad gods. The world was dying. I did not know that when I was here before and I did not know when I was here before that I would be able to help.

And everything's fine now? All fixed?

No. The world is very broken. They were gods for a very long time. But it is better now and I think it will heal.

Yeah. Goodness. My world is downright fucking calm compared to yours.

I think most worlds probably are. I think our world went very wrong.

You aren't from Earth, are you?

I am not from Earth. At least, I do not think my world was ever called that.
