About them: francel is your ordinary non-combatant elf lord with some serious self-esteem issues and who is entirely too dependent on his best friend (haurchefant). it can be kind of hard to get past his polite exterior to the gooey depression within, but when you do you will be rewarded (?) with an unrelenting stream of morbid and melodramatic and Very Sad dialogue. or i mean if you're house you can just ask him point-blank about his 16-year unrequited crush on his best friend but most people aren't house.

Current plans: i have... no idea... LAUGHS um i've pretty much been sitting on my activity with him because i don't want to do anything until i figure out what he's doing in the museum with haurchefant, but suffice to say he'll pretty much go anywhere haurchefant goes / do anything haurchefant tells him to do, so honestly if you want to know what his current plans are you can probably ask psi before you ask me lbr

Desired CR: right now it'd be great if he could have friends that aren't haurchefant, but in all fairness i don't know why your character would want to be friends with him because he doesn't bring much to the table. like that's not me being self-deprecatory about my character that is just a fact —

but in general he works well against people who are really spunky and energetic and possibly delusional because he will get swept up in your flow and humor you completely. also if your character is the sort to enjoy giving self-esteem pep talks they can certainly try with him but sometimes that backfires really badly

also i mean i have no idea how he would find out that your character is having something as deeply personal as a crisis of faith but if by any chance you have a character with a crisis of faith i would love to have francel be somebody's religious counselor because, let's be real, being deeply and unquestionably devout is one of the few things he's good at, probably because (and i headcanon) it distracts from his deep self-hatred and it makes him feel good and pure and he's probably still trying to Pray Away the Gay so, yeah, please talk to francel de haillenarte he will lead you back to the god(s) of your denomination even if they are not his

francel will probably semi-publicly/mostly-privately mock estinien when robogate happens but other than that!!! yeah idk, i am hoping as well that they can repair their CR because unfortunately francel is not great with negative CR and doesn't want any more mom talks from aymeric so he's just been 100% ignoring estinien... and i liked the idea of francel like half-shipping estiai so that he can project his own relationship with haurchefant on them but as it is he'd just be mad if aymeric talked about how much he likes estinien, it is all a mess, etc

AHAHA omg yeah like I think once Estinien does his little robogate and gets himself stabbed, and well... that whole thing out of his system, he might kinda simmer a little (unless he sees Francel mocking him, but if that happens then he's gonna confront him!) I would like for this CR to fix itself into something semi-manageable, but it's hard when Francel doesn't do well with negativity, and Estinien is a pile of salt.

Also the idea of Francel projecting on Estinien and Aymeric sounds hilarious, even if not really viable right now. MAYBE ONE DAY.

BUT YEAH WE CAN JUST... figure shit out as it goes. Just know. The interest is there. We just gotta get... to that point, eventually. Yes.

yeah the exact nature of how francel might react to robot happenings will probably vary based on who is telling him what kind of information, so no guarantees as to what precisely he will say but i'm sure it'll be fun

dude i am so worried about haurchefant and francel's food situation atm like honestly someone needs to bring them food... maybe if the timing works out estimerai can bring them food but again it will have to wait until i hear where they are going LMFAO

he will probably be super grossed out to hear about titans but hange is more than welcome to regale him with tales of their home world??? also he will definitely entertain theories about norfinbury and that kind of thing!! in general he's a bit, like, he understands he's way out of his league here and that he needs to learn more about this world before he jumps to any conclusions, but he also Doesn't Care enough to actually put any legwork into learning stuff, so if possible he'll probably just ask questions and absorb information through people like hange who actually... put effort into learning things... he has a mild interest in technology too (only insofar as that his brother runs what is basically an engineer's guild) so i bet he'd love to hear about 3dmgs and stuff haha

I know we talked a bit about this but someday Haurchefant has to share with Fran his own crisis of faith re: dying and ending up HERE instead of with Halone.

YES PLEASE DO, the fran will be twice as nice and 10000x more understanding to his haurche than to anybody else (´◡`＊) he will frantically reassure haurchefant that he deserves to be in heaven wow and probably discuss other things about faith, norfinbury, etc

mostly i just want to play them out as being the good friends they should be! i think haurchefant is probably keeping it a secret but i think it would be nice if francel finds out about his chronic pain / mn poisoning because then he will Worry Forever. also uh he has a scented candle for some reason so maybe one day when they are somewhere comfortable he can offer a makeshift 100% no homo ~~massage~~ physical therapy session because he just wants haurchefant to be comfortable ok

somewhere really far down the line they should probably discuss the fact that francel thinks haurchefant doesn't actually care about him anymore and that he doesn't want to see haurchefant sacrificing himself for others anymore and also that he's been obscenely lonely since haurchefant first died, and they're probably going to argue pretty badly about all this, but right now he's pretty desperately trying to keep up the act (he thinks it's an act) that their friendship is perfect and always has been so there's... that...

also i think merlwyb wants to punch him so haurchefant might have to do something about that but um otherwise yes

Haurchefant mostly doesn't want Fran to worry about him but if there is ANYONE he'd open up to about things it would be Francel. All it would take is misfortune triggering the pain up again or those miserable feelings of spiritual inadequacy.

And that will happen because Snowhell. We should absolutely play it out when it does!
