Network Prompts ONE: DRUG PUSHING What luck! You've found a bottle of medication...only, oh, it looks like it's a prescription for one of the other people trapped here with you. You have a lot of power in your hands now: you could do the right thing and give it back without a fight, demand a worthy trade to see how badly they want it, or auction it off to the highest bidder. They're not the only ones who could use a painkiller or an antidepressant, after all. If you don't need it for yourself, you're sure to be able to fetch a high price (or bank some high gratitude points) for it from someone. TWO: CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS After a long day of traveling, you reach into your bag to scrounge up some dinner but you find that all of your food has gone bad. Everything, including the rations you stocked up on just yesterday, is covered in a thick layer of mold. Even the packaged nonperishables are somehow spoiled. Your whole backpack reeks of rot, and nothing edible has been spared. Maybe you can restock tomorrow, but what if you're not the only one whose food has been tainted? And what about the meal you had for lunch just hours ago? Your stomach turns. You'd better take to the network to get to the bottom of this Action Prompts THREE: WRITING ON THE WALL You've just settled into a building for the night with your traveling companion when you notice a message left somewhere on one of the walls. It's signed by a username you don't recall ever seeing before. It tells you discoveries and facts about the town you don't think are really real or should be followed. Tells you that they're heading in a direction they're convinced has the exit, and urge you to follow their lead. One of you thinks it's worth consideration. After all, why would anyone leave a message like this if they didn't mean it? But there are risks involved in chasing the assertions. Do you have the resources left to try? FOUR: CORPSE PARTY Just before lockdown, you and your traveling companion are about to seek shelter in the nearest building when you spot a huddled figure nearly buried in the snow. When you get a little closer, you see that it's a person wrapped tightly in a blanket. Neither of you recognizes them, but you can't be sure; the blanket covers their face. They seem to have succumbed to the elements, but it looks like they're still breathing! You manage to drag them into the building with you with seconds to spare. Good job, you've saved somebody's life! But, as you pull apart the blankets to check on your new companion, you realize that they're not a "somebody" at all... And you're locked in with it until morning.

Gang leader. People get hurt, yeah, and sometimes it happens because I made the choice to hurt them. It's the business we're in.

You have the choice not to have that kind of business. Violence isn't the answer to problems or difficulties.

What exactly is your fucking point here, mate? Do you think you're telling me things that I don't already know?

My point is that you initially were trying to invalidate my ideologies because you think them ridiculous, but I'm telling you they aren't. I don't kill, and anyone else with me isn't going to kill either.

What you do on your own time that I am unaware of is your own business.

I'll invalidate the idea that violence is never the answer, yes. That's your ideology, not mine, and I am not gonna live by it. What if I were to tell you, right, that my ideology involves not leaving things like that alive? I don't let them live, and nobody with me is gonna let them live either.

Then you and I aren't going to get along.

It's not going to work that way because of legality, and that's where the line is drawn. Killing is murder, and murder is illegal. If there's uncertainty, you have a trial. But even your punishment isn't death because that isn't in our power to decide. For anyone.

I wasn't aware the laws of your world were primordial. It's wrong to murder, no matter what it's about, no matter who it is, end of story.

We're not talking about my world, are we. We're talking about Norfinbury.

Don't make an argument of legality when you don't have a leg to stand on.

It doesn't make any difference. This is common sense, and changing worlds doesn't make murder suddenly legal. Even if Norfinbury's laws say to murder, it doesn't make it right.

Killing in cold blood is wrong. Assisted suicide is still wrong. Even killing in self defense is questionable at best when you can learn to disarm and subdue. Excessive force isn't necessary when it leaves blood on your hands. You're hurting another human being. [He points back toward the room.] You don't know if that's a person, who they are, if they are a son, daughter, mother, or father. You don't know if they can be helped if you kill them before trying.

And even if they are a criminal, you aren't the one who gets to decide they can stop living.

I'm not gonna share with you my thoughts on killing, because I do not think you truly care to know.

Right, let's say we spare it, because you fucking insist on it. And it breaks out of that room and kills me. Does that make you my killer by proxy?

It isn't going to break out. If it does, then I'm not going to let it kill you.

It has to go by me first.

No one is infallible, not even me. I won't let it kill you. If you're worried, you can sleep in here instead so you have time to react.
