TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: DRUG PUSHING
What luck! You've found a bottle of medication...only, oh, it looks like it's a prescription for one of the other people trapped here with you. You have a lot of power in your hands now: you could do the right thing and give it back without a fight, demand a worthy trade to see how badly they want it, or auction it off to the highest bidder. They're not the only ones who could use a painkiller or an antidepressant, after all. If you don't need it for yourself, you're sure to be able to fetch a high price (or bank some high gratitude points) for it from someone.

TWO: CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS
After a long day of traveling, you reach into your bag to scrounge up some dinner but you find that all of your food has gone bad. Everything, including the rations you stocked up on just yesterday, is covered in a thick layer of mold. Even the packaged nonperishables are somehow spoiled. Your whole backpack reeks of rot, and nothing edible has been spared. Maybe you can restock tomorrow, but what if you're not the only one whose food has been tainted? And what about the meal you had for lunch just hours ago? Your stomach turns. You'd better take to the network to get to the bottom of this

Action Prompts
THREE: WRITING ON THE WALL
You've just settled into a building for the night with your traveling companion when you notice a message left somewhere on one of the walls. It's signed by a username you don't recall ever seeing before. It tells you discoveries and facts about the town you don't think are really real or should be followed. Tells you that they're heading in a direction they're convinced has the exit, and urge you to follow their lead. One of you thinks it's worth consideration. After all, why would anyone leave a message like this if they didn't mean it? But there are risks involved in chasing the assertions. Do you have the resources left to try?

FOUR: CORPSE PARTY
Just before lockdown, you and your traveling companion are about to seek shelter in the nearest building when you spot a huddled figure nearly buried in the snow. When you get a little closer, you see that it's a person wrapped tightly in a blanket. Neither of you recognizes them, but you can't be sure; the blanket covers their face. They seem to have succumbed to the elements, but it looks like they're still breathing! You manage to drag them into the building with you with seconds to spare. Good job, you've saved somebody's life! But, as you pull apart the blankets to check on your new companion, you realize that they're not a "somebody" at all... And you're locked in with it until morning.

Davesprite | Homestuck

[personal profile] mrcreamsicles 2016-08-29 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
One | video; @featherydouche

[The video displays one thing and one thing only: a labeled bottle of pills set on some handy bit of old furniture. The image is steady enough, but displays nothing of Davesprite, not even one orange finger.]

So I found this, and I'm wondering what the fuck because I can barely read the name on the label. Like Latin and a sci-fi novelist had a chemical baby that got raised by a smiling white woman in a commercial full of flowers and a billion side effects. Something like, flexamol, paralax, xenofeline, one of those jumbles of too many letters you just know some pharmaceutical asshole made to fuck with people and make the doctor's RX that much more illegible for us plebs.

Makes you wonder how much bullshit they're scribbling down in the first place. "Patient's got one godawful haircut, give him this so he stops hacking up lung chunks and can get his ass to the barber." "Dude smells like chutney, prescribing 50 baths over a two week period and some fucking deodorant." Or, like, legit nonsense, and then the drug guy just grabs whatever bottle looks most like that tangle of handwritten keysmash. Let's be real, it's probably that one.

Anyway if this is yours, hit me up.

[He moves the device a bit closer for a more legible view of the label, then clicks the video off.]

Three (Note: Davesprite has a tail instead of legs and moves by hovering a couple inches off the ground. This was okay'd over on the FAQ.)

[One of the first orders of business when settling down somewhere is to check what's in the building. Supplies, interesting weird shit, stuff like that. Davesprite has split up from his travel partner of the day to go investigating—there's probably only so much staring at a neon orange bird dude a person can stand—when he finds the message on the wall. How long it's been here is hard to tell; carbon dating was never in his wheelhouse, no matter the actual carbon scratched onto the surface. The username signed at the bottom is one he doesn't know, but that matters less than the content of the message itself.]

[A way out. It should be a good thing, a way out of this snowy hell pit, but the idea leaves his gut churning with uncertainty. A way out to where? And then what?]

[But his travel partner might care, and it's that thought which pushes him to drift back through the structure to wherever it is they're presently located.]

Yo, I found this message on the wall, something about a way out? Thought you might want to see it.

[He motions over his shoulder, ready to turn and lead the way if asked.]

[Times like this he wishes he could fly still. It would be a lot easier, quicker too, but a bit of drifting around outside still nets him some pictures of the building and the area to send to mystery dude.]

You're welcome.

[Not his problem if people can't keep up.]

Probably so like, if you got a leg swelled to the size of New Zealand you don't take the pills that turn it purple. Mad chemical interactions, yo. But that sounds boring, so I'm going to change my mind and say because they're fucking with us. This is why you can't trust Big Pharma. All natural or nothin'.

I... don't think so...?

I mean, we have some science. Alchemists mix up better and better medicines every day, and the Circle of Magi is hardly anything to scoff at either.

[It's been a journey. Not just through Norfinbury, but with who he has been traveling with. At first, he thought him some sort of specter, not like any he had seen before, but little did he know what to make of him.

Regardless, he has proven himself a worthwhile travel companion, even if odd at the best of times. At the moment, Lehko is letting his feet rest, rubbing at his legs to try and get some warmth to them once more. His outfit is definitely made for the cold, but still the snow, ice, and wind prove formidable in their bite.

As Davesprite approaches, his hands turn their attention to his tail, but his eyes fall to his feathery companion.]

A way out? Sounds rrrather vague, would you not agree?

[Regardless, he rises to his feet, looking wary, even if curious.]

Show me, mayhap there might be something of use.
mrcreamsicles: (015)

[personal profile] mrcreamsicles 2016-08-29 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Lehko's a fucking furry. More legit than him or Jade, more even than Jaspers considering this dude was probably never the domestic, quadrupedal kind. But he hasn't attacked or shown him any aggression, so Davesprite has been calm in his presence. Give respect, get respect back. He has wondered more than once what Jade would think of him.]

[It's not what he's thinking about right now.]

Vague's one way to put it.

[He watches as Lehko stands, then turns to float off down the hall.]

There's these notes they put down, stuff about the town and shit, but it doesn't really say what kind of exit or where it leads. Just 'out', and some directions, and some username I don't recognize.

[It's not far, and in the room itself Davesprite indicates the message as he takes a spot to the side.]

Anyone you know?

[His voice is even, flat, but he can't help hoping that Lehko won't know it either. That it will be fishy enough to keep questioning, to doubt.]
catricide: (pic#10517820)

[personal profile] catricide 2016-08-30 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lehko follows, his eyes going to that tail, and idly he considers grabbing it, or attempting to. Of course, he doesn't, but the thought is there, and the temptation its company. There's more important things at the moment, anyway.

Once at the wall, he crosses his arms over his chest, one hand rising to his chin as he considers the message, and the name—unfortunately it seems as though it's an unfamiliar one.]

I know not who they are. Poor fortune, that. However, mayhap someone else on the network would?

[His tail swishes idly behind him as he pauses for a moment...]

Though, I wonder if this might be some sort of trrrap.
mrcreamsicles: (011)

[personal profile] mrcreamsicles 2016-08-30 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's kind of hard to ignore the tail. Long, bright orange, and sinuous, it trails out behind him like a dragged string. More than once he had to suffer Jaspers going after it, as if being part bird weren't enough.]

[He shrugs one-shouldered at his question.]

Might be. Some tool we don't know offering mystery advice on a wall to whoever comes by, no backup, not enough details.

[The corner of his mouth twitches faintly as the thought of John comes to mind.]

Wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone troll the gullible to get them killed. Even if we just come back here, who wants to die?
catricide: (pic#10517842)

[personal profile] catricide 2016-08-30 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Cannot say I am unfamiliar with the impermanence of death. However, it does little to blunt the horrid experience.

[Of course, this just sounds like he's died here before. Allowing his arms to slacken at his sides, he also shrugs.]

Either we ignore it or we follow it. Could mean our salvation or certain doom. What a predicament to be in.

I feel if any on the network knew of this person, or of this way out, they would not be here, or would have warrrned us by now of this trap. Which leads me to believe we are the first to discover it out of whom remains.

Maybe the non-brand names are like that. idk. But the brand names are all pushed for prime marketing. Paxil. Vioxx (the double x is important). Lyrica. That one's my favorite.

Acetaminophen can still be Tom's fault.

Any secret I tell after this is just going to be disappointing in comparison, isn't it?

[Staring at the neon orange bird dude is... probably very rude, but Uzuki just can't help herself, she's fascinated. At first she had been a bit terrified, but combined with the scenery and their current situation, that terror had quickly faded into simple amazement. It was rude to stare, though, and she knew that, but - but how often in her life would she see someone like this? Even all the idols she's met in her life were never quite so exotic or amazing to behold. He would certainly be a showstopper at a concert!]

[But her partner appears to be annoyed, she notes, and so she tears her eyes away, digging through their sanctuary for the night to see if she can unearth anything of interest, of use, forcing her eyes forward, keep them down, keep looking, be useful, Uzuki! Because of that focus, when Davesprite does speak, her shoulders jerk and she lets out a small hiccup of surprise at the call.]

A - message? [Her attention is instantly drawn, Uzuki standing to be led. Surely it can't be so simple, right? But what if it is? Optimism bubbles up in her heart, eyes lighting up at the possibility. A way out? Could it really be true?]
mrcreamsicles: (011)

[personal profile] mrcreamsicles 2016-09-04 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[When he first got here it was easy to expect that people wouldn't know what to make of seeing something like him, and in the time since he's grown used to seeing that reaction in person whenever the inevitable meetup happens. It's not like he can change it. He gave up any chance to fix himself ages ago, and even compared to the other non-humans in Norfinbury he's an oddity. Most people aren't orange.]

[It's probably for the better that he doesn't carry a sword around in his chest anymore.]

[And though it is still kind of irritating when people gawk and stare, he doesn't make a big deal out of it when he doesn't have to. Uzuki is trying, at least. It's more than some would do.]

Yeah, over in this room.

[He leads her down a short hall into the room he mentioned, then gestures to one of the walls. There the message is written down with directions and suppositions, all signed at the end with someone's username.]

Unless you recognize the name, I've got no idea who wrote it. Don't know if it's trustworthy either. Could be dangerous, or a trap maybe?

[But he figured she'd want to know, and that look in her eyes when he first mentioned it was confirmation enough.]
domybest: (k ) now to all my worries)

[personal profile] domybest 2016-09-04 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Uzuki studies the message silently, a slight frown on her face and a tilt in her head. She looks up when Davesprite gives his guesses as to the message's purpose.]

A trap? [She's surprised to hear that guess.] Do you really think so? Why would someone do that? [Forget the uselessness of the action, it's the cruelty she doesn't understand.] I've never seen this username before, either - though I haven't been here especially long... [Her memory is pretty strong, though, especially with words.]

A trap seems so... pointless in this situation...
