THREE: KYRIE ELEISON You've found yourself in a small chapel, complete with bolted-down pews, an altar devoid of symbols, and stained glass windows depicting various saints. It's quiet... one might even say dead quiet. Which is a really awful pun to be making, considering if you follow the stairs down to the basement you'll find a morgue.
Explore to your heart's content, but you'll be forced out at 7 PM. Hopefully you don't find any unfortunately familiar faces among the dead.
FOUR: LIGHTS OUT Against all odds, you've managed to make it to shelter for the night. You pull the door shut behind you and turn to look at your surroundings - and that's when you see it. A ... person. Is it a person? It's hard to tell, because a moment later, you're plunged into darkness.
...better hope that's another unfortunate visitor to Norfinbury you've been locked in with, and not something more threatening.

( three: kyrie eleison ) [derek didn't like this from the second he arrived to the moment he found the chapel. things seemed normal until he realized his sense of smell is mediocre compared to what he's always used to and his hearing is abysmal. everything feels wrong about this place, and it's no beacon hills, that's for sure. he has nothing to defend himself with and he doesn't like the feel of the place. his powers may be gone, but that doesn't stop the hairs from standing up on the back of his neck. his footsteps echo on the floors of the church, and he already finds himself using what hearing he has left to try and sense if someone else is inside with him. he knows better than to panic; all he can do is move forward and see where it takes him.
everything seems fine until he finds the stairs going into the basement. it smells musty, and with one last glance to the pews, he follows the stairs down into what he soon finds to be the morgue. which is exactly what he wants to find in an unknown town that is eerily quiet. he looks around anyway, hoping that he doesn't find anyone that he recognizes. he leaves the morgue after a satisfactory sweep of it, following the stairs back up. he'd rather not linger here, anyway; despite what most people think, churches aren't always safe.]
As far as I can tell? Nothing seems to affect them. They have to have some sort of weakness, but I haven't found it yet. Water, fire, something - everyone has one, right?
[Churches are a bit uncomfortable for him. Not because of any one particular reason, but they tend to frown on those who aren't entirely human. Remus has never heard a sermon against werewolves, particularly, but he assumes it's all under the general umbrella of dark creatures.
But it's out of the wind, and it's a bit warmer than outside, so he slips in. It's creepy, really, and he's not sure if he's glad when he hears the distant tap of footsteps. Remus darts forward between the pews, wishing he had his wand on him.]
[derek is coming up from the morgue when he hears the door open and close. he holds his hands up, the universal sign for i mean no harm, unless the speaker definitely does mean harm, then he would (unwillingly) fight back with whatever he had. he looks around the church for something he could use as a weapon, but finds nothing. even a metal pole would work, honestly, but things seem to be pretty nailed in to wherever they need to be.
he takes a few steps closer to remus, tipping his chin toward him.]

[but there's something in his tone that says unless you try to hurt me first, an underlying danger. he's not going to take any chances.]
[The other boy-- man?-- is bigger than he is, more muscled. That wouldn't usually be a problem, not with magic-- but right now, Remus is feeling rather defenseless. Such things do matter-- Sirius is always going on about werewolf strength, but Remus is no match for anyone like this.
But perhaps he won't have to be. He shifts his weight, his own hands half held up in an aborted mimicked gesture, and offers half a smile.]

[he drops his hands at his sides once they establish an understanding, but his guard certainly hasn't dropped with them. he can only use body language as cues to what may happen next, and that leaves him with a sense of uneasiness in and of itself, and the question remus asks makes him frown.]

[he arches his brows at remus, expecting him to answer his own question, too.]
[But an American? The mystery grows. A little warily he takes a step forward, closing the distance between them.]
I've also been stripped of most of my possessions. I woke up locked in an abandoned house. The last thing I remember . . . I was at school. A heavily secured school at that, so whomever is behind this must have been rather determined, clever, or both.
[That's the question, isn't it? Not the "what lives out there" part, that part Stiles is way, way too familiar with already, but the "how can we kill them". Now if only more people were actually trying to think of that instead of, you know, safe houses and running from the things and other unimportant stuff.]
Okay, first, they're probably the same things that have been appearing for a while now, weird twitchy shadow things, they kind of look like human but not. They move fast and if they catch up with you or get in the house you're done. 100% dead. [So you see why there might be a problem in trying to kill them while also not letting them so much as touch you...]
For the killing part? No clue, dude, nothing. Something's got to kill them, but trying stuff like fire or silver bullets isn't exactly a walk in the park when nobody has any proper supplies anywhere.

Also was than an actual "good to know" or was it a sarcastic "good to know" or both he can't read tone over text okay, it's just that he's maybe too used to flat delivery of lines and exasperated looks this is almost normal.]
That would depend on your definition of "anything to defend ourselves with". I mean, a plastic lighter and a 2x4 aren't totally useless, but they're not exactly a gun, either. [In other words, no, no actual weapons, but you can use whatever you find to make a weapon.]

Yes, I've done all the research I can, except that's not really much at all, seeing how there's no information on them available anywhere, but I've talked to the others, asked what they've seen, so at least now we know enough about who they go after, and all the ways you can't beat them. Outrun them, yeah, but not kill, at least not so far.
[Also EXCUSE U he has considered making napalm out of that lighter fluid, except he doesn't have enough of it to make it yet, he needs to find at least another one -- but then, Derek, then he'll have a jar of napalm and don't you dare scoff at his ideas ever again.]

If they're the same shadow people, then, yeah. A while ago the tablets or something else went totally crazy and there was this noise that wouldn't go away, and the only way to make it stop was to turn on a beacon on your tablet, and afterwards those things appeared and went after the people who'd turned it on. So, congrats, that means you're not on their list. I mean, they're still go after everyone they get close to, but if there's multiple people and one has turned on the beacon, that's who they're gonna target.
And yes I checked that, before you ask, both those who haven't turned on the beacon and those who have confirmed this.
