Network Prompts ONE: SEE THAT WE CAN SEE It's late and you're settling down for the night when you notice a strange light coming from... outside? Through the heavy snowfall, you can just make out the haze of glowing eyes in the distance. Dozens of them. It's difficult to tell through the window, but they seem to be staring directly at you. Since it's after lockdown, you can't get outside to investigate, but maybe others in town are seeing the eyes too. You'd better take to the Network to see what's going on. TWO: BEHIND THESE HAZEL EYES You can't sleep. You've been trying, trying, trying. But every time you close your eyes, you see the eyes of the prophet etched into the insides of your eyelids. The symbol only seems to get brighter and clearer the longer you keep your eyes shut, the closer you get to drifting off. It chills you awake. Nothing seems to help. Maybe there are others on the Network who are having the same problem. Or, at least, someone who doesn't mind keeping you company through the long hours. Action Prompts THREE: THREE'S A CROWD You and your traveling companion are exploring what looks to be a perfectly normal building when you notice something strange carved into the wall. Is that an eye? Strange indeed, but what's stranger is that new carvings keep appearing, always where you're not looking. Soon, the whole room is full of eye carvings. Is your companion doing this? If not them, then who? FOUR: THE KNIFE'S EDGE Most everyone in town still has eyes that are either glowing or shaped like the prophet's symbol, and your eyes are no different. These are the same eyes that made everyone attack each other a few nights ago. Every time you catch a glimpse of yourself, maybe in the reflection of a window or the video feed on your tablet, you feel a little sick. Unfortunately, your traveling companion's eyes look strange too, and they're the opposite of yours. Both of you are in danger if those murderous urges come back, which makes it difficult to trust each other after what you've been through. It's late at night when a dark thought crosses your mind--you do have a knife. Not that there's any reason to use it, of course... Right?

[There was something about the older man that rubbed Steve the wrong way. The guy seemed nice enough, sure, but he was smart, and clever, and hiding something. Steve wasn't inclined to trust him.

But he knew something about Bucky, and why Bucky was the way he was, and why he was avoiding Steve, and, well, those were good enough reasons for Steve to let the man stick around. And hell, maybe Steve was just being overly suspicious. Maybe the guy was alright after all.]

Okay, who the hell is this Prophet character? I've heard them mentioned a few times and no one's given me a straight answer yet.

[Steve doesn't actually reply to the comment about House's experiments, but the face he makes at the word itself is probably enough to let his feelings be known to John. His whole life seems like a list of incidents caused by people trying to replicate his accidental good fortune, and he's come to hate the word. Then again, he's not in a place to tell them what they should or shouldn't do to help get the problem solved (yet). He lets it go.]

So there's a process, but the creature or whatever it is might be interfering with that process. That does make sense. Too bad the Admin doesn't seem very open. I have some questions I'd like to ask about her side of things.

[As if he will ever get answers from Eve. Hey, he'll keep forcing the issue anyway.]

She's not the chatting sort, no. I did manage to get where she was born from once. Washington, D.C., for whatever that's worth. [He offers a small shrug before standing up to join Steve in looking at one of the symbols.]

The last time these things appeared, it was long with static. The people who removed them... they were hunted down by the people who drew eyes a few weeks later. It was like something was trying to divide us up. I don't think anyone's actually gotten hurt from removing the eyes anywhere else around town.

Good to know. And trust me, I wish I could. Back home I'd have been out knee-deep in the snow going toe-to-toe with whatever those things are, because that's what I did.

But here? Things are different. So I'm opting more for analytical conversation and a distraction that keeps me right here.

Not sure about the how. But one way or another, these are appearing and I can't track it. So-- either there's someone here fast enough to draw them in our blindspots, or we aren't remembering seeing it, or we can't see it. Alternately, these were here before we got here and we're triggering them, but the drawings don't seem like it.

[Alexander glanced around at the continuing propagation of eye symbols wherever he and Steve were not looking. It was unlikely to be safe to stay in this place over night and he mentally calculated how long it would take them both to hurry back to the last building on their route. It was a toss up if they could reach it in time, and if they failed, they would die of exposure.]

All I know is that it was a young girl, but beyond that, few details are known. She apparently has those eyes as her symbol and there have been several violence incidences in her name. She's been dead for quite some time according to the ADMIN.

Right. Right, okay. I think the eyes are probably not dangerous at this stage. Or at least they aren't yet. The last time we saw glowing eyes they were other people and they marked some of us as enemies of the Prophet. So, I think we're okay.

That said, if they're here, the Prophet's followers might be too.

Normally I'd ask if you've potentially exposed yourself to anything that could be affecting you, but we're here and I figure that answers the question well enough. Have you noticed any other symptoms or affects?

[You know who Bucky is the most uncomfortable around? Steve Rogers. You know how much more uncomfortable it gets when that Steve isn't even the Steve he knows? He's been so tense since they ran into each other earlier that day, aware that the other Bucky from this man's world is so much more put together than him. The Soldier was different, their friendship was different, he was just... different.

He's barely spoken two words, almost hopeful that Steve won't recognise him as Bucky. He, after all, barely recognises him as Steve. He looks similar, but not exactly the same. Maybe it'll be the same way - especially without his metal arm.

Being addressed makes him snap his head around to look over at Steve from where he's been prowling the house looking for a place to hide and avoid Steve without making it look like he's hiding and avoiding Steve. He can't ignore a direct address, though, so he hesitates and shrugs slightly.]

No more wrong than any other house. Until you hear static or music, ignore them.
