Network Prompts ONE: SEE THAT WE CAN SEE It's late and you're settling down for the night when you notice a strange light coming from... outside? Through the heavy snowfall, you can just make out the haze of glowing eyes in the distance. Dozens of them. It's difficult to tell through the window, but they seem to be staring directly at you. Since it's after lockdown, you can't get outside to investigate, but maybe others in town are seeing the eyes too. You'd better take to the Network to see what's going on. TWO: BEHIND THESE HAZEL EYES You can't sleep. You've been trying, trying, trying. But every time you close your eyes, you see the eyes of the prophet etched into the insides of your eyelids. The symbol only seems to get brighter and clearer the longer you keep your eyes shut, the closer you get to drifting off. It chills you awake. Nothing seems to help. Maybe there are others on the Network who are having the same problem. Or, at least, someone who doesn't mind keeping you company through the long hours. Action Prompts THREE: THREE'S A CROWD You and your traveling companion are exploring what looks to be a perfectly normal building when you notice something strange carved into the wall. Is that an eye? Strange indeed, but what's stranger is that new carvings keep appearing, always where you're not looking. Soon, the whole room is full of eye carvings. Is your companion doing this? If not them, then who? FOUR: THE KNIFE'S EDGE Most everyone in town still has eyes that are either glowing or shaped like the prophet's symbol, and your eyes are no different. These are the same eyes that made everyone attack each other a few nights ago. Every time you catch a glimpse of yourself, maybe in the reflection of a window or the video feed on your tablet, you feel a little sick. Unfortunately, your traveling companion's eyes look strange too, and they're the opposite of yours. Both of you are in danger if those murderous urges come back, which makes it difficult to trust each other after what you've been through. It's late at night when a dark thought crosses your mind--you do have a knife. Not that there's any reason to use it, of course... Right?

[Korra looks over from where she'd been searching the room nearby, her bright blue eyes glowing eerily as they travel down to the knife Henry is holding out. Repulsion and concern sink into her face quickly, and her response is immediate.] What? No. I'm not going to hurt you.

[Okay, how does it go in horror movies? He needs dramatic timing. When she calls his name, John stabs the palette knife into the wall, whole body tensing. Don't turn around. She's too good at reading people for him to turn around. What else, what else?

John's free hand reaches up and he uses his nail to start scratching another eye symbol.]

[Sora still wasn't sure what to make of the young man he'd ended up spending the night with. He and Roxas had gotten separated and Sora had hunkered down in the first house he'd come across and, lo and behold, he hadn't been alone. Noctis wasn't anyone that Sora had met before and that immediately made him nervous--though the fact that they both had glowing eyes was at least something of a comfort.

He had tried his best to be friendly towards the other but the other man seemed on edge, which had led to Sora just settling down across the room to sort through all of his stuff.

And attempt to get in touch with Roxas.

The sound of the other's voice startles him and he glances up from the notebook he'd been writing it, head tilting.]

I'm not really sure. I hope they do but sometimes...sometimes things that happen in this place don't fix themselves. [Sora glances down with a sigh.] I'm worried this is--everyone seems worried this is all going to end badly.

You want poetic insults, go talk to the discount Hans Christian Andersen. [And get away from him. House stands from this crouched position abruptly and moves back to where Moriarty isn't encroaching on his personal bubble.] Dammit, Jim. I'm a doctor, not a writer.

[ Henry's face isn't nearly as expressive, but he does look vaguely unhappy when Korra doesn't take the knife. ]

I don't want to hurt you. But...I might want to later. And if that happens, I want you to be able to defend yourself.

[ That felt not entirely honest, considering the urge he kept having to use the knife on himself. So after a long pause, he continued. ]

[Noctis honestly feels a little ridiculous being so uneasy, especially when his company is just some kid. Well, a teen, but kid enough. He's really gotta get a grip on himself.

Sora's words are far from comforting, but he guesses that's just the nature of this place. It's not like he was seeing much comfort back home either, after all.

He lets out a tired sigh.]

Yeah, I figured.

[A thoughtful pause, before he continues, asking in a softer tone than before:]

What about you? Do you think it will?

What a disappointment, I'm sure they could write an entire series on the drama between family members alone. Wasted opportunity.

Man, maybe that's why everything here went to shit, they didn't have anything but this terrible writing to pass the time, and everyone figured up and disappearing was the better option.

[Despite the events that transpired a few days past, Molly's done her best to be chipper and optimistic. There's no reason in letting it all stew and fester, after all. Her and her companion may not be friends, exactly, but they can still be friendly. Molly's feelings on this waver like a candlestick's flame when she sees the knife in their hand. Her smile falters, but she does her best to keep it on and keep it bright.]

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The bigger problem is going to be whether this is all we'll have to deal with.

If the worst we get is a bad night's sleep, that's pretty generous by this place's standards.

I have no idea what breed a mabari is, but boy am I glad that this place isn't devoid of animals.

Pretty sad if this is considered generous. Then again, we're stuck in a winter wonderland infested with daemons, left to fend for ourselves, so I suppose you're right.

I just hope this is a one night deal, I really don't do well with little sleep.

he's doing well enough, i've scraped together what i can find to keep him warm between shelters. the problem is mostly keeping his curiosity in check... he keeps bringing back all kinds of random junk.

i've been reading to him! his favorite bedtime story is from home though so it's easy enough to retell it from memory with a few embellishments.
