Network Prompts ONE: TIME TO CHECK WEBMD You've found the pharmacy, which is really convenient, since you're not feeling that great. Actually, you're feeling terrible. Maybe you have a fever, maybe you're coughing up blood, maybe you're vomiting... Whatever it is, you should probably try to get some medicine for it. Well, if you can figure out what it is. Maybe someone on the network can help you out? Alternately, you know exactly what you have--but for whatever reason, the medicine here isn't something you can easily understand. You have to choose between a couple of options, and you don't know the difference. Hopefully someone on the network can tell you which will heal you and which will probably kill you. TWO: NOT SO HELPFUL AVATARS Every tablet has the option for a customizable avatar that will talk to you and keep your tablet in order. Maybe you set it up, maybe you never checked it. Either way, it keeps popping up unrequested and being sort of... Odd. Flickering, talking in strange, mechanical voices, offering advice that's unhelpful at best and actively harmful at worst... Maybe it's even telling the entire network some things you've been doing you'd rather everyone didn't know. Time to call tech support. Unfortunately, the best option is other people on the network. Good luck. Action Prompts THREE: SCHOOL DAYS You've ended up in the elementary school. Maybe you're grabbing more food, maybe you're exploring. Either way, this place is creepy; the atmosphere is the sort that gets the hair on the back of your neck rising (potentially metaphorically, if you don't have hair or a neck). It's not long before strange things start happening. The sound of running and screaming children, doors slamming in far off or nearby hallways, pianos playing... What's going on? It's hard to tell what's really happening from what isn't happening. Maybe someone who's also exploring has some idea. FOUR: SUPPLY SCRAMBLE You've just walked into a house, and look, there's fresh fruit sitting right out on the counter! How long has it been since you've had some of that? It'll definitely help provide some much-needed vitamins and maybe it will ward off scurvy and the like. There's even more than one piece! ...And there's more than one person here, too. So, what are you going to do? Are you willing to share, or are you prepared to stab someone over a pear? Time to find out just how badly you want that food.

[The message is exclusively audio for the time being and really, it's taken an embarrassingly long time to figure out... how the fuck he's actually supposed to use this thing. Hence the nonsensical ID. Listen, the whole techno-electronic-touchscreen thing was incredibly fascinating for the first hour. Even that friendly little assistant was doing some good--

--until like, an hour later when it was still going. It's even bringing up some unrelated, nasty baggage which actually manages to strike a nerve. Alright! That's enough of that!

Now, Ramsay comes from a time when Microsoft Sam hasn't and probably never will be invented. As such, he's just going to assume that this here assistant is voiced or controlled somehow, by an actual living person!

Despite his ire, his tone does carry a jovial sense of bemusement.]

[that sound of his coughing makes her cringe. By sheer coincidence, she's down in the ice caves too, so her voice has a telltale echo to it when she replies.]

Gods, you sound awful. ...Are those names for medicines? I'm nearby that little abandoned clinic now, down in the caves. Do you know where that is?

[she hopes he's nearby. That would really suck, if she found the medicine he's talking about and he's clear on the other end of town.]

[ He wordlessly shuffles out of view of the tablet for a moment, leaving only the sounds of cupboards opening and closing behind.

When he returns, Cole is carrying a grimy washcloth and half a broken pencil. SCORE! ]

I didn't find any answers. Are you sure I can help? I can't feel when people need me, here. It makes things harder.

I'm fifteen, and I can't help the way I sound. It's just... it's not that weird, definitely not weird enough to be part of anything horror related.

[one ear twitches towards the sound of his cane on the floor, and at his voice she turns to face him properly, her soggy hat in her right hand and a two-by-four studded with shrapnel in her left. She holds the latter like she's ready to use it; this school creeps her right the hell out, and she's not assuming anything good about anybody emerging from the shadows in here.]

[Sure, he just looks like an ordinary human guy, around her height and with a cane, but going by appearances is dangerous. She clears her throat and stares him down, her ears turned back.]

I don't plan on staying long enough to find out. Who are you?

Yeah, you actually want to be heading to the convenience store a little bit north east of here.

[He will be grateful for House's lack of patience for chit-chat because it lets them breeze past the awkwardness.]

It's one of the only places here that regularly restocks necessary supplies like food, although... if you want the nurse's office, then is it medical supplies that you need? Are you okay?

No, I'm looking for the nurse's office because I thought Carol Hathaway might be waiting for me. Do I look all right? Are my teeth clean.

[He raises the cane again, rolling his eyes.]

Hmm... what could the guy with a cane be looking for? Meds. I have what was in my pockets when I arrived here, but that won't last forever. As much fun as it is to be in excruciating pain and unable to walk, I think I'll skip that.

[It's already a pain having to ration himself. He despises the cold.]

But for medicine, I think you want the vet's office. I'm not sure exactly where it is, except that it's to the east of here somewhere, but that's where people have told me that they've found medicine.

[A pause, but then he has a feeling he knows what's coming, so he'll pre-empt it.]

Human medicine, not pet medicine.

[House just stares because that? That is a giant rat. Rat-thing. Kangaroo rat-thing? It's talking. It is also wearing clothes and holding a weapon menacingly. And so, he stares.

Is this part of the hallucination of this place? Are there some weird genetic experiments going on? Is it a robot? Some furry in one of their suits?

He doesn't answer her question, just returns with one of his own.]
