TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: TIME TO CHECK WEBMD
You've found the pharmacy, which is really convenient, since you're not feeling that great. Actually, you're feeling terrible. Maybe you have a fever, maybe you're coughing up blood, maybe you're vomiting... Whatever it is, you should probably try to get some medicine for it. Well, if you can figure out what it is. Maybe someone on the network can help you out? Alternately, you know exactly what you have--but for whatever reason, the medicine here isn't something you can easily understand. You have to choose between a couple of options, and you don't know the difference. Hopefully someone on the network can tell you which will heal you and which will probably kill you.

TWO: NOT SO HELPFUL AVATARS
Every tablet has the option for a customizable avatar that will talk to you and keep your tablet in order. Maybe you set it up, maybe you never checked it. Either way, it keeps popping up unrequested and being sort of... Odd. Flickering, talking in strange, mechanical voices, offering advice that's unhelpful at best and actively harmful at worst... Maybe it's even telling the entire network some things you've been doing you'd rather everyone didn't know.

Time to call tech support. Unfortunately, the best option is other people on the network. Good luck.

Action Prompts
THREE: SCHOOL DAYS
You've ended up in the elementary school. Maybe you're grabbing more food, maybe you're exploring. Either way, this place is creepy; the atmosphere is the sort that gets the hair on the back of your neck rising (potentially metaphorically, if you don't have hair or a neck). It's not long before strange things start happening. The sound of running and screaming children, doors slamming in far off or nearby hallways, pianos playing... What's going on? It's hard to tell what's really happening from what isn't happening. Maybe someone who's also exploring has some idea.

FOUR: SUPPLY SCRAMBLE
You've just walked into a house, and look, there's fresh fruit sitting right out on the counter! How long has it been since you've had some of that? It'll definitely help provide some much-needed vitamins and maybe it will ward off scurvy and the like. There's even more than one piece!

...And there's more than one person here, too. So, what are you going to do? Are you willing to share, or are you prepared to stab someone over a pear? Time to find out just how badly you want that food.

what, you think there's actually some animals around to hunt? like rabbit or deer or something? because i haven't seen any since i got here days ago.

[So. Yeah, Hiro is. Confused. Not in the least at the strange username - probably some other shmuck that's clueless about technology again. But on the initial response to showing up like this. Hunting. Gathering food is good, of course. But Hiro isn't sure if there even are any wild animals still around, between the weather and the shadow creatures.]

[What does twenty-something years of growing up in a universe and age with a grand total of zero technology save for a rickety elevator using a counterweight system do for you? Absolutely nothing.

It's going to take Ramsay awhile to punch out this message on his little touchscreen. House Bolton, at long last bested by House Jobs. Ravens were so much easier.

But! The message from Hiro is simply too precious to ignore so, after a good 30-40 minute stretch of figuring this horrifically complicated shit out...]

Or something. I'm not entirely certain where you've been for the past week or so, but I've seen no shortage in game!
baymaxing: (But we don't have to be)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-29 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
what kind of game exactly? and what do you intend to hunt with? most everything seems in pretty short supply around here, unless you happened to find an actual weapon. best I found so far is an umbrella, so unless you found something better.

[Which. Is really. Not a weapon. He could make one. Could make a lot of things if he just had the resources to do so. But then, he is not going to complain if the guy has found some animals to hunt and potentially eat if it might help the food worry some at least. Potentially.]

[personal profile] flayerhater 2015-08-29 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh. This is almost too much. Ramsay opts to just focus on that first question there.]

Shockingly, everything is not in short supply!

I'd like you to take a moment and consider the top three resources, be it plants, animals, minerals, or the like, most abundant in this quaint little town. What would you say those are?
baymaxing: (Caught up in building 'paradise')

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-29 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
the top three resources? gonna go with snow, wind and uh. more snow. to be honest. but otherwise, more of us seem to be showing up every so often. which i'm not sure if that's a good thing or what but.

[Not that. People could be what he means by hunting. Right? Surely not.]

[Ding ding ding ding.]

Fair point. I'm not entirely certain that it's a good thing myself. Fortunately, there are productive ways to make the most out of potentially horrible situations!

If you catch my meaning.
baymaxing: (Everything collides)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-30 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
wait, what? look i know food isn't something that easy to figure but we've been managing fine. the convenience stores restock so if you are hungry go check there. we kind of need everyone to help out if we want to get through this. and when i'm saying that you know we're pretty screwed.
flayerhater: easystreet @ dw (pic#9396009)

[personal profile] flayerhater 2015-08-30 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well! If they're proving to be more effort than they're worth and not thinking for the betterment of the group, I am going to have to beg to differ. I would much rather have a small group of useful men, as opposed to a large group of lazy cattle, wouldn't you?

That said, I probably should inform you that I would never resort to the filthy and irredeemable practice of eating another man. Gods, what do you take me for? Some kind of monster?

[Don't be ridiculous, Hiro. He just forces people to undergo horrifically twisted hunts for sport! And then flays them alive. So much more redeemable.]
baymaxing: (We'll go down in history)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-31 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
there are other ways to go about dealing with issues then just resorting to murder.

so, what, you'd just go off hunting people for fun then?

[No, Ramsey. No, that does not make this any more okay or make you much more redeemable.]
flayerhater: easystreet @ dw (pic#9396012)

[personal profile] flayerhater 2015-08-31 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
Not "just for fun," no. Occasionally, I'll go off hunting people because they're boring, irritating, or otherwise not "fun" in any manner of speaking!

Though, killing irrelevant men and women for sport hardly constitutes as murder.

I DO believe that you're being a bit culturally insensitive at the moment.

[Humanitarian of the year.]
baymaxing: (On fire)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-31 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
killing people is not a sport at all. you can't just go around doing that. if you kill someone, that's murder. even here, pretty sure talking about it like this won't out you as a team player. regardless of how it might have been back home in your culture or whatever.
flayerhater: easystreet @ dw (Default)

[personal profile] flayerhater 2015-08-31 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
So what you're saying is... that I shouldn't kill people? Because "murder" isn't fun. Yes?
baymaxing: (But we don't have to be)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-31 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
regardless of 'fun' factoring into it. also, it's illegal.

[Like Hiro hasn't engaged in illegal hobbies himself. He may have gambled, may have come close to committing murder via taking out Baymax's healthcare chip, but still.]

[personal profile] flayerhater 2015-08-31 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[You are one step away from being written into a George R. R. Martin story arc, Hiro. Look out.]

By whose law?
baymaxing: (Nerd school. No thanks.)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-31 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
um. everywhere has a law against murder last i checked.

[Completely ignoring that they have no clue on what the rules or laws might be here at Norfinbury. Details.]

What a cruel and merciless world you live in.

No matter, I've never been fond of happy endings, anyhow! So I suppose this works in my favor.
baymaxing: (And demons behaved)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-31 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
more like a lawful and civilized world, actually.

you keep telling yourself that.
flayerhater: easystreet @ dw (Default)

[personal profile] flayerhater 2015-08-31 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
There are fates more heinous and painful than death. I would hardly consider a world without mercy a civilized one.

But as you implied, I certainly wouldn't want to start myself off on the wrong foot by unlawfully murdering people!

I thank you for your sagely advice, stranger. You've been most informative.
baymaxing: (In the details)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2015-08-31 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
not that we don't have mercy. we just don't go around killing people for being boring or whatever is all.

but sure. you're. welcome i guess.
