✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW...
Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.

TWO: CABIN FEVER
Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.

Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING
You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.

FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING
You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?

Whatever this place was, there was a distinct vibe to it that Helena wasn't liking. Something wasn't sitting right with her, and she wasn't certain if it was simply because she had no memory of this place, or if there was some other reason for it. Whatever the cause, she was determined to root it out. Or at least hope to reclaim her memory.

"Do you know what this place is?" She'd start out simple with the question. There was little need to delve into detail about how she had just woken up in a morgue from, apparently, being dead. And she didn't know how she'd gotten that way in the first place.

"I'm pretty sure it's not Miami." Which is the full extent of what she's been able to learn. She can't even say for sure they aren't in Gotham, some alternate time or world, or just a wasteland made by Mr. Freeze. There aren't any real environmental clues as to location, and nothing about this place gives her the tiniest hint.

"I take it you're not local either."

So the Miami comment did make Helena chuckle a bit. Humor was definitely needed at this precise moment. It gave her something other than the confusion to focus on. It also helped to keep her mind more centered instead of running after each and every little thought about the questions she had about this.

"No, decidedly not. I am from London originally, though I have been living in America the past few years." She would simply omit the fact that she was one hundred and forty-eight years old for the time being. There were other matters she wished to focus on instead.

She could have guessed London from the accent. She rubs her arms, trying to warm them.

"New Jersey born and bred. I know I don't sound like it." The Jersey accent was lighter in Gotham than the rest of the state.

"I must confess, nuances of American accents are a bit lost on me, save for the typical southern accent versus the northern accent." Helena gave a slightly sheepish smile and a shrug of her shoulder. The longer she was around Americans, the easier it would be to pick up on the regional accents more specifically, but as it was she could only really pick up on the broader accents.

"Forgive me, I must seem quite rude. My name is Helena," she introduced herself. "I am trying to piece together what happened, I have no memory of this place, yet I woke up in the morgue. Which suggests I died, but that seems more than a slight impossibility." Yes, she well knew most everything was possible given her dealings with Artifacts, but that didn't mean that she going to buy into the fact that she seemed to have died and randomly come back to life without anything being a catalyst for bringing her back to life.

Steph had only been here a little while longer than Helena, but already she had found a number of oddities.

"Stephanie. I'm in the same boat. Or glacier, as the case may be. I figure manners kind of lose relevance once you've been this cold this long."

"True enough," she responded with a soft chuckle. Helena was going to hold fast to humor as much as she could. It would keep her from focusing too much on the the things that would make her feel uncomfortable. At least for the time being. She then glanced around, noting their surroundings.

"Perhaps we should look for shelter where we can escape the cold?" There had to be some places where there was a fireplace or something of the sort they could make a fire in. Judging from the state of the morgue she'd woken up in, Helena was going to deduce that central heating wasn't exactly in working order here. At least not anymore.

Perhaps if she was here long enough, she could work on that.

"Not the morgue," Steph decided. That place was cold and mostly metal and stone. If they were going to start a fire they needed something that would burn without knocking them out. But she'd circled the place twice without even a glimpse of another building.

"Probably we should just, I don't know, pick a direction and walk in it?"

[personal profile] indelibleink 2015-05-14 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I'd rather not go back there," she responded with a slight shudder. Helena hadn't liked waking up in it, nor did she like to looks of the things within it.

"That is perhaps the best choice," Helena said glancing around. It wasn't easy trying to pick a direction, especially when she had no idea which direction was which. "Perhaps that way?" She suggested, gesturing to the right. When in doubt, she was going to rely on her instincts as much as possible.

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-05-15 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Steph shrugged. That was as good a direction as any other, with the same danger of freezing to death or walking off of an invisible cliff. In the end she knew it didn't really matter as long as they kept moving.

"Better get a move on, keep your blood flowing. I can't tell if it's morning or evening. I'll assume it's only going to get colder."
indelibleink: (061 - Watching and listening)

[personal profile] indelibleink 2015-05-16 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
They definitely needed to keep moving. Moving meant they had a chance to survive. Staying still would ultimately mean death. And considering where Helena had just come out of, she really wouldn't want to be in a morgue again. Not that she'd know she was there if she would end up there again, but nevertheless.

"It is a safe assumption that it will only grow colder." Helena glanced up towards the sky for some moments. "It would be easier to tell the time if the sky was clear of clouds." Helena could tell time by the sun. Not down to the specific minute, but she could guess within an hour either side of the actual time.

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-05-19 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Safer than assuming it'll get warm, in any case." She would have to agree about the clouds. Even if her astronomical skills were not quite so precise, she would have liked to know where the sun was.
indelibleink: (004 - Talking)

[personal profile] indelibleink 2015-05-19 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed." And knowing how quickly the sun could set during the winter, Helena was seriously hoping they at least had a couple hours to find a place to take shelter in. Especially when they weren't certain just how large the place was. "Let us hope we still have a couple hours of daylight. Though with any luck we will find a building within that timeframe."

Though was luck really on their side? Helena had already woken up in a morgue. That alone said that her luck was non-existent.
