ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW... Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.
TWO: CABIN FEVER Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.

THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.
FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?
[OK. First step, got someone's attention. Awesome. Colin releases her shirt as soon as she seems to notice him, withdrawing his hand back to his own personal space.
And now...
Uh. Maybe he hadn't thought this all the way through. He makes some attempt to talk before remembering-- oh yeah, not working. Another moment of panic crosses his face, and he freezes-- uh, metaphorically speaking this time-- before finally fumbling for his tablet and opening up the notepad function. It takes him a bit to type out something without a bunch of typos, but he finally turns it around to show her.]
[She looks at the device and then back to him....and then over to the building she'd just passed. Great, this place brought kids to kill. Hope you're only 19.]
[He may have been a kid, but he had had superpowers once before. It's probably the loss of that that makes him even more shaken about the whole situation.
But he nods as quickly and as insistently as he can at her question, turning the tablet back towards him, typing something out, and presenting it once more.]
[She nods at that. She's used to kids running around without adults. Little Lamplight after all was an entire town with just kids. But at least they had each other and weren't stuck in a snow town.]
I think it might be one of the things that happens if you get stuck outside and wake up in there. I woke up without my hearing for a while when I first got stuck outside.
I'm going to look at the next house for supplies. Do you want to come and get something to eat? If there's anything actually wrong with your throat, I might be able to help. I was trained as a doctor before I came here.
[He's not sure it's a matter of just waking up and getting stuck outside. Colin's pretty sure it's a matter of life and death. That they died. That they somehow came back. He didn't have a reference point before not for what it felt like to die, but he'd bet that was it.
He considers bringing that up, but it makes his stomach turn. No more. He didn't want to.
He flips the tablet back toward him, poking idly at the screen for a minute before he nodded to her, and actually typed out something else.]
i'll go with you. thanks. but i dont need a doctor.
[Doctors still kind of sent a shiver down his spine.]
[He nods in agreement with the plan-- and she seemed... nice enough. Not the fake nice or the impatient nice or the scary nice that other doctors usually showed. So, current assessment: wary, but willing.
But Colin's ready to go, already taking a few steps through the snow down the street as he hugs the tablet to his chest. But he stops with a bit of surprise, an "oh" moment if he could speak, and turns around to look at her again, typing out and holding up another message.]
[That helps, at least; he's certainly of the ten year old opinion to never trust adults. Ever. 19 was probably close enough to not being an adult to be OK. For a doctor.
He smiles at her, just a small one, and nods-- 'Nice to meet you,' and all that.
So he hugs the tablet to his chest once again, tucking his hands under his armpits to keep them warm and starts to shuffle off again. The sooner they got somewhere inside and with food the better.]
