TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW...
Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.

TWO: CABIN FEVER
Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.

Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING
You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.

FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING
You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?

I have, and unfortunately found nothing that would fit my feet. I suppose it wasn't very smart to ask you, you would have no reason to bring them along if you did find them, of course...

[He forces a little chuckle as he switches to rubbing the numbness out of the other foot.]

It's...it's good to see someone in person, in this place. My name is Enoch.

[The old immortality hermiting? He's never been good at that to begin with. Add isolation to the mix and he'll even regress(?) to taking initiatives like introducing himself.]

Yeah, sadly there doesn't seem to be any place around to sell anything here. Or buy anything either.

[She's still carrying her bag of caps around more as a memento then as anything useful.]

Everyone does seem pretty spread out. My name's Hope.

Hope...an auspicious name for a place like this. It's nice to meet you.

[He pauses to flex his toes as feeling begins to prickle back into them. He's tired of having to put up with this, but what can he do? Until he gets some proper shoes he's going to be confined to staying in shelter more than traveling, and to dealing with this discomfort when he does travel.]

So, have you traveled far in this place, Hope?

[Have a wry smile.]

I got that a lot with that name, even at home. It's nice to meet you too.

[She rubs her hands together.]

I think so. It's hard to tell without a map. Sometimes I think I'm just going in circles.
warriorscribe: (It'll be fine...won't it?)

I'm sorry for repeating something you've heard so often, then.

[Feeling creeping back into his feet now, he shifts back up to a more proper posture, back straight, shoulders back, hands on his knees, continuing to curl and uncurl his toes to encourage proper blood flow again.]

I don't suppose you've found any clues, then? Either why we're here or how to escape?
vaultexile: (I suppose it could be worse)

[personal profile] vaultexile 2015-05-20 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[She chuckles at that.]

Don't be, I've gotten used to it. Honestly I think my dad named me Hope solely for the bad joke opportunities.

[She's joking now herself. If she jokes about her dad it doesn't hurt. No that's a lie it still hurts but at least she can pretend. She shakes her head at that last bit though.]

Nothing. Just guesses with not much to back them up. I think that the weather is somehow artificial because no natural snowfall should be like this. And I say this as someone whose weather knowledge comes mainly from a book. My best guess is really realistic virtual reality and our bodies are all actually in chairs somewhere. But that wouldn't explain why so many of seem to be from different worlds or what the purpose is behind bringing us here in the first place is.

"Virtual reality"?

[He isn't modern enough to know the computer-based meaning of "virtual", but the simple meaning, the one that meant 'like in every way but not in fact', that was comprehensible. It had the same effect.]

You mean to say this might be an illusion or a vision?
vaultexile: (Can I go home now?)

[personal profile] vaultexile 2015-05-23 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah like a highly advanced computer simulation. I've been in two and they can be pretty realistic. It would explain how people come back from the dead.
warriorscribe: (Slightest of wavers)

[personal profile] warriorscribe 2015-05-24 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
[That part had been worrying him, he had to admit. Nearly dying, that had happened before, several times. He had always been rescued by his trusted guardian, but now there was nothing but waking to a cold morgue, naked and alone.]

You've been in two... [He doesn't know what a computer is, but he doesn't need to, to understand this much.] How did you escape those?
vaultexile: (Also a nerd)

[personal profile] vaultexile 2015-05-24 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well the second was a normal one. It was military training, you reach the end of the missions and you're out. I just followed orders and survived till the end.

[Which hadn't been easy but compared to the next...]

The first was run by an insane scientist and I had to find the failsafe hidden in the world to get out. I've been keeping an eye out here but so far nothing.
warriorscribe: (How does this work...)

[personal profile] warriorscribe 2015-05-24 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
And what would this failsafe look like?

[If this is what's going on, there might as well be more than one pair of eyes looking out for it.

He wonders if his companions were watching worriedly over his body, if this really was an illusion and he never woke up at all, in reality...]
vaultexile: (Ignore the teddy bear)

[personal profile] vaultexile 2015-05-24 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well....

[She pauses slightly because there is no sane way to describe this.]

The failsafe itself looked like a normal computer terminal but it was hidden inside an abandoned house. I got it to show up by tapping some old objects in the house and figuring out the sequence the tones they made went in.

[Yeah....that was a thing.]

Which is why I've been tapping a lot of stuff here. No weird music notes from anything yet.
