Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW... Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.
TWO: CABIN FEVER Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.
Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.
FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?
Robb pulled his fur cloak tighter around his shoulders as his eyes scanned around his surroundings. The snow crunched under his feet as he walked around, trying to figure out where he was, but there wasn't a soul to speak with him. In fact, the city looked completely abandoned let alone himself and Grey Wind, his dire wolf, walking alongside him.
He was without food or weapons, he realized, and no bannermen to speak of. Was he entirely alone? What in seven hells did this mean?
Grey Wind whines next to him at the same moment Robb's eyes laid upon a single house. It was intact and looked promising as shelter. Being respectful, Robb knocks and waits at the door. After not hearing anything he finds it unlocked and empty. "Hello?" He spoke up, stepping through, only to be pushed aside as Grey Wind entered and immediately sniffed around. If he seemed unbothered, then it must've been empty.
Finding a fireplace, wood, and flint, Robb managed to start a fire and waited for the heat to warm him up. As soon as he was comfortable enough to removed his cloak, Grey Wind started growling, facing in the direction from where they entered the house and Robb heard the door open.
Jon had gone outside to gather firewood. He drops it all when he sees who waits in the house.
Ghost rushes forward with uncharacteristic enthusiasm, circling Grey Wind and nipping at his neck, butting his head against Robb's leg. Jon can only stand there, his mouth agape. He isn't sure what to think. He isn't sure he can think. He moves almost automatically to wordlessly embrace Robb. There are too many things he wants to say, and he doesn't know if he should say any of them.
Robb was in a similar predicament, reacting almost identically. It painfully reminds him that although they didn't share a mother, they were brothers through and through.
"Seven hells..." Robb muttered before Jon embraced him and he tightly returned the hug. The wolves seemed to be just as pleased to be reunited, white and grey, just like the two men.
Pulling back slightly, Robb looked in the face of his brother, "Do you know where we are?"
The first thing to settle in his mind is that Robb is real, and not a ghost. He's grateful that Robb has preempted him with a question before he can say something terrible, like, how are you alive? It is like Robb to speak first, to take charge of the situation, even when he's lost and confused. This thought threatens to finally bring the tears that have lingered unshed behind his eyes for the past half year, but he maintains his calm.
"The town is called Norfinbury," he says roughly. "It's nowhere in the Seven Kingdoms or beyond the Wall."
Robb had to press onwards. He hadn't taken a look at his body yet to see the thick, ugly scars marring his skin; the only thing important at the moment was to get out of the elements if he truly was going to survive. He didn't understand any of this.
"Then... Where?" Robb's arms faltered, slipping down his brother's to rest at his elbows as he looked out the window, as if the answer would be right in front of him. At least the good thing was, they weren't alone.
Of all she'd been expecting? Her brother, her dead brother and his wolf were not on the list. Arya stopped in the doorway, eyes widening as she took in the sight of them, unaware that the trembling she was doing was no longer from the biting cold.
They'd both grown, they'd both changed, and yet it was nothing in the least to recognize him. Would he recognize her as easily? Hair chopped short, dressed in a battered, dirty tunic and leggings, looking more like an urchin than anything. Braavos was... not this cold and she'd been entirely unprepared for the snow when she'd arrived, though she'd managed to scavenge a pair of boots, a woolen blanket that worked well enough as a cloak, though as the door swung shut behind her, it was already dropped on the floor as she just bolted towards her brother, afraid that she'd throw her arms around him and he'd not be there, that it was some sort of trick or dream, but desperate for it to be real.
Robb shifts slightly, she had grown so much she was strong enough to knock him back a step when her arms wrapped around him. Of course he recognized her; how could he not? Without hesitation, he returned the embrace, hold her just as tightly to him.
Grey Wind only whined next to them, flopping his tail only twice in its wag, indicating his own pleasure of the reunion.
Pulling back slightly, Robb smiled, "You've changed!" He certainly is surprised to see her, let alone understand how he got here himself when the last thing he remembered-- Well, he certainly didn't want to linger on that.
She grinned up at him, delighted at seeing him, keeping a tight grasp on his arms as they pulled back enough to look at each other. Taking a long moment to simply watch him, to notice all the little differences in him since they were younger.
"So have you! You look so grown-up now!" And really he did, reminding her so very much of their father in so many ways.
"We've all grown up." Robb commented, nodding to herself, and even Grey Wind, who was nearly his full size by now.
"So much has changed, and yet here we are reunited." Robb glanced out the window nearby. Only the white of the snow was clearly visible. Looking back to her, he encouraged her to come closer by the fire, recognizing she must be frozen. He didn't recognize the clothes upon her, but it didn't matter as he took a seat on the floor. "I don't know if we have anything for food here. I haven't looked." He glanced around, "I don't know whose home this is either."
"Says you, I'm still smaller than everyone else." A soft huff as she said this, more than willing to go closer to the fire, pausing only to give Grey Wind an affectionate ruffle of his ears. The warmth felt good after the bitter cold outside, and she settled beside her brother.
"I imagine whoever owned it is gone. This place is suspiciously empty." She pulled her small pack around, rummaging inside before pulling out a few scrap-wrapped bundles. "I found a few things to eat in one of the abandoned shops... I'm not sure how long it's been there but it seems edible enough, and it means we might find more later if we look closely."
Robb hadn't even thought about hunger, only to get away from the cold. Admittedly, he hadn't even teased the thought of looking for food just yet. He was nervous, given his wounds, but they were healed...weren't they? There's only thick, ugly scars left over.
Reaching over he takes one of the bundles, watching her a moment, before slowly unwrapping it to be pleased to be holding some food in his hands. "We'll stay for a little while, warm ourselves and sleep. We need to find some answers."
Which meant Robb is admitting he hasn't a clue as to where they are.
This place was intensely strange, and yet it was positively fascinating to her in a strange way. It was an enigma wrapped in a mystery and tinged with a distinct uneasy feeling. Not to mention it was the dead of winter, but it was a winter of the like that Helena had never before experienced. Thankfully a coat had been provided when she'd woken up here because she certainly hadn't had one with her.
Keeping the coat pulled close around her, Helena had gone about exploring the town, the tablet in hand. She kept checking it now and again in order to see if she could find anything out through it. When she wasn't using it, she tucked it under her arm and kept her hands in the coat pockets.
Helena had been in several unsavory places in her life, but none of them felt the way this place did. It was obvious the place, in part, was abandoned. And the whiteness of the snow gave it that uneasy feeling that sunk right into one's bones. However, Helena was focusing on her curiosity of figuring out where she was as opposed to getting upset or let the uneasy feeling truly sink in and take her over.
So when she spotted a building she had not yet been in, Helena went over to the door and tested the knob. It wasn't locked, which wasn't completely strange given the abandoned aspect. However, when she opened the door, she did not expect to be confronted with a growling wolf.
"Ah, easy," she said calmly, holding her hands out in a non-threatening gesture. "I did not mean to impose on your territory." She was speaking to the wolf, more focused on him as opposed to the other man. She hadn't even noticed there was a person in here. The growling wolf kind of took precedent.
"Grey Wind." Robb spoke out, quelling the dire wolf's growling almost immediately. She appeared to be a simple woman, what threat did she pose?
Robb walks over and rests a hand on Grey Wind's back until he licked his lips and sat down, panting anxiously. "I'm sorry." Robb apologized, "We are unfamiliar with the surroundings, and if this is your house, forgive me for entering unannounced." He may have wolf's blood in him, being northern born and a Stark, but even he wouldn't last very long on his own out in the elements.
Helena relaxed once the wolf relaxed. It wasn't like any wolf that she'd seen before, it was certainly larger than the breeds she'd known. However, she wasn't going to dwell on that. She turned her attention to the man, offering a soft smile.
"It is alright, I understand. I have been a bit on edge myself here." It wasn't difficult to tell, really. The place just seemed to have that foreboding atmosphere to it. "Have no fear, it is not my home. It was a building I had not yet seen or explored, so I thought I would explore a bit. Forgive me for trespassing on you both," she said, giving a nod towards the wolf.
"It is all forgiven. It's not safe to be in the cold, especially not one prepared such as yourself." He nods towards her clothes. He wasn't wearing his fur cloak at the moment, but even then, he wasn't entirely prepared for it either.
"I'm Robb Stark, Lord of Winterfell." He hadn't a clue where he was, but even with the unfamiliarity of it all, this wasn't the North, or perhaps, anywhere in the realm of the seven kingdoms. Her accent didn't match any of those he was familiar with, either.
"Decidedly not. At least there are buildings to take shelter in and one can make fires." It was something, at least. Though Helena still clung to the vain hope of finding more articles of winter clothing somewhere in her searching. But at least the coat would keep her warm enough so long as she didn't get stuck outside for too long.
"I'm Helena Wells, it is a pleasure to meet you," she said with a nod. She then looked over at the wolf. "And your companion is Grey Wind?" She was rather certain that was the name from how he'd spoken to the wolf moments ago. "Though I cannot say that I have heard of Winterfell." Though from the name alone, it clearly was in the north of wherever Robb was from.
Robb moves back, back towards the fire and finds a seat, offering her to join him and appreciate the fire. Grey Wind remained, watching the both of them, then lied down completely where he was, resigning himself to be on alert.
"Aye, Grey Wind, he is." Robb informed her, "He won't do anything to you; don't pay him any mind." He leans over and searches through his cloak and pulls out the small metal device he found upon him when he woke up.
"I woke up here, though I don't know where 'here' is, and found this. Do you know what it is?"
When offered the seat, Helena moved over and took it, sliding out of her coat now that she was near the fire. The simple pleasure of warmth was more than she could have anticipated given the current circumstances. The weather outside was frightful and cold, so the fact that there was warmth that started seeping in and pushing the cold away was more than gratifying.
Helena gave a nod in response to what Robb said about Grey Wind. She was just relieved that the wolf had stopped growling at her. Also given the fact Grey Wind listened to Robb was immensely reassuring. Though she turned her attention back to Robb.
"I have no more idea where 'here' is than you do, I'm afraid," she confessed. But she was determined to find out. Though when he asked about the tablet, she nodded and pulled out the one she'd found when she'd woken up here. "It's called a tablet, I believe is the correct term. They can be used for communication, though the ones that I am used to have more capabilities than this seems to have." She pursed her lips momentarily, then looked over at Robb. "Though what I have gleaned thus far from mine is there is a way of communicating with others that are in this place. Which could prove useful. It cannot, however, communicate with where I came from."
Robb watches her closely showing him her own 'tablet' that she too possessed. A communication device!? This was almost magic, as far as he was concerned. He didn't recognize such a thing whatsoever.
"Have you tried? Communicating with your family, I mean?" Or anyone.
After her reply, Robb sat back with a frown upon his face. He didn't want to show it, but he was scared and confused. None of this make sense, and him be alive didn't make sense. He remembered everything the moment he closed his eyes long enough, as if it all just happened moments before.
"I don't think the gods even have protection here. The trees are all unfamiliar." That confirmed it, they weren't in the realm of the seven kingdoms.
If his style of clothing hadn't been enough of a clue, his reaction to the tablet is all she needs to know that technology like this is something he's unfamiliar with. And, well, she can certainly relate. She'd had a similar experience when she first encountered computers in the 21st Century.
"I have, to no avail. Though I believe anyone who is here and has one of these are able to communicate with each other." Helena at least had the sense to not delve into more detail about the tablet at that precise moment. She looked at him, wondering just how far from home he was. And he said 'gods' not 'god.' Polytheism wasn't exactly popular in the modern day
"So you are not from around here either. Not that I myself know where we are. I have seen buildings in similar style to these before. But we could be anywhere." Her mind was coming up with a plethora of theories on the matter. "Do you mind my asking what gods you are speaking of?" Perhaps the answer could give some insight as to the how or why they were here.
She was a queer one, not that Robb disliked her. He only didn't understand where she came from and didn't match up to anything he was familiar with.
"The old gods, in particular, but not to exclude the new. I didn't see any Weirwood trees as I was walking outside." Although he wasn't particularly looking very closely, but he would think he'd catch their distinctive presence.
"They say they don't reach the south, but this much snow wouldn't either, not yet--" This was truly a Robb rambling moment.
The old gods and the new gods. Not terminology Helena had heard of being associated with any religion on Earth. Even if she wasn't a religious person, Helena still knew at least something about the religions of the world. Partly because she had a habit of learning anything relating to Antiquity and such. And partly because her job at the Warehouse gave her tidbits of basically every subject.
Though the mention of the Weirwood trees was certainly unexpected. She wasn't familiar with what kind of trees those were. Helena couldn't help but to wonder what land Robb was from. By all respects, he wasn't even from Earth. How could that be possible?
Just another mystery of this town, though, wasn't it?
"I am from England, the city of London to be specific." It was even stranger given Robb's accent wasn't that different from someone who would be from England. This certainly set Helena's mind to thinking outside the box on the possibilities of this town. Well, possibilities and capabilities more like. "What are Weirwood trees?"
"Their bark is white with blood-red leaves and sap. They say the Children of the Forest carved faces into them to represent the old Gods, before the arrival of the First Men, thousands of years ago. The Godswood of Winterfell had one where my father often prayed." Robb did sometimes, but not nearly as much as he should have.
"I've never heard of 'England' or the city of 'London'." Was it possible that she was from a land he wasn't familiar with?
Helena had definitely never heard of anything Robb had spoken of. Her mind, of course, could only start to entertain the theories that multiple universes existed, and that they both were from different ones. It was not so far of a stretch of her mind to do so. After all, she'd bent the laws of time to her will when she'd built her time machine. Her mind was capable of entertaining the impossible as being more than possible.
"They sound like beautiful trees," she said, upon hearing the description of them. Certainly something with that coloring would be quite eye-catching and beautiful in its own way.
"Then it seems we are both equal ground as I have not heard of the places and things you speak of." Though it didn't trouble her so much as open up the possibilities to her. It would perhaps also better explain Norfinbury. "And that fact only makes Norfinbury that much more intriguing to me."
"Perhaps." Robb muttered as he looked out the window, "This is so far from what I know." He told himself he shoudn't open up to this woman, but the last thing he remembered was being locked in the Great Hall at the Twins, having his men slaughtered, his mother screaming out his name, and the stinging pain of a blade--
"Tell me about London?" Robb looked over. His face was neutral, but his anxieties were horrible, thinking that he was suppose to be dead. How was this possible?
