TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW...
Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.

TWO: CABIN FEVER
Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.

Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING
You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.

FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING
You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?

[It had taken several days for Hijikata to accept that the real nightmare here was the weather and not the lack of fundamental human rights like mayonnaise. Needless to say, he did not approve. Rejected!]

Don't even think about it! Next time I see you, I'm hitting you.

['I'm gonna come find you' followed by radio silence didn't read as anything but ominous to Hijikata. His hands shook with anger (and a little bit of nerves but no one needed to know that). Sogo didn't really think this was the time to test some ramshackle explosive, did he?

There was no way of knowing.

Hijikata rolled his eyes in an attempt to stay calm - this was just a stupid prank. He absolutely didn't catch a glimpse of a familiar black shadow staring at him from across the table. He absolutely didn't glue his bulging eyes to his tablet and his hands were absolutely not shaking as he read the response and typed his own.]

Yeah. Sure. If you've got a bomb, blow up the building I'm in, okay? [Ideally without him in it but...details for later. Typically, the coy threatening would have gotten a rise of anger from him, but when the choice was between being terrorized by whatever was in his cabin (nothing, it was nothing) and Okita, Hijikata immediately jumped for the more familiar suffering.

Sogo wouldn't be able to locate him without guidance. Hijikata knew that. But he also knew he'd have to look away from his tablet and glance outside for landmarks to give that sort of information. A shiver ran down his spine.]
Can these things give coordinates? [A desperate shot in the dark, but he had to try.]

[ Sougo was well aware that the minute he steps outside, there was no guarantee for safety. He was well aware that the danger of the world was real and if hypothermia didn't get him, some kind of crazed monster probably would. But hey -- maybe his strength of will and hatred of Hijikata would make him beat the odds. ]

Probably not. That would be too convenient. Just tell me what you see when you look out the window. Or you could always set yourself on fire and I'll just follow the smoke signal?

[ He tossed on his jacket, strapped his sword to his side (he fortunately still had his weapon) and abandoned the makeshift explosive. ]

Just don't leave, Hijikata-san. There's no guarantee we'll be able to get back if you leave to try and find me. I'll be mad if the weather kills you before I get the chance.

[ Okita drew in a breath before he opened his door and headed out into the bitter cold. ]

Outside now.

[ He wandered a few steps aimlessly, searching for signs of life -- lights and other cabins. He felt as though he was being watched, eyes boring into his back -- but he didn't turn around to look. He felt as though someone was walking beside him, but he didn't even give a glance.

Because Sougo knew if he entertained it, he would be haunted by his sister. So he would keep his head forward and eyes straight; he would keep his thoughts focused...because the minute he caved and looked at her was the minute he would give up all of his fight just to join her. ]

[Hijikata was really starting to contemplate his options. He could step outside and find a less haunted- er- better lit cabin and risk freezing to death or he could remain in the cold, moldy cabin and risk doing something really embarrassing after being startled by his own shadow.

Sogo's insistence on finding him sealed it.

He'd just have to make sure not to make a fool of himself in front of a subordinate. Especially not that subordinate. Luckily, he had time to acclimate himself to the dim lighting.]

My lighter's out of fluid, so you'll have to come up with another scheme. [Very funny. Almost as funny as worrying about the weather killing him. Hijikata wasn't the one abandoning shelter for an unknown winter wasteland.

He lowered his tablet and looked very pointedly towards the one window in his cabin. Hijikata totally didn't see the looming black figure, a shadow with more shape - human - than it had previously. That wasn't why he immediately brought his tablet to his face. He'd just had an idea! A great idea!]

I'm going to step outside too. I'll get a better view of the area that way. [With that Hijikata was out the door, running at a very impressive speed over the threshold to skid to a halt in the snowbank.

His surveillance was carried out with frequent checking of the network and even more frequent glances over his shoulder. Once he could have sworn he'd seen the figure watching him from the window. Luckily, no one was around to hear his startled yell.

Hijikata raised his tablet, leaning on the threshold of his cabin's door but hesitating to retreat inside. So he could see Sogo if he approached.]
I'm standing in the doorway now. The sun's setting to my right, so that's West. Which means the door is facing North. Behind the cabin it's all thick forest, but in front of me is just rocks and a completely frozen stream. [Not the best to go by, but this place was hardly much to look at.]

There's a huge mountain face to my left, so East of here. It's far, but I imagine it's visible from anywhere. [For good measure, he snapped a picture. Both of the terrain out front of the cabin and of the mountain.]

How are you doing, what do you see? [Despite being really obnoxious and trying to kill him, Hijikata would do his damn best to get Sogo to him. No one would die in the snow on his watch. Besides, focusing on a task like this took his mind off of the totally not creepy not haunted normal regular cabin behind him.]
