TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW...
Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.

TWO: CABIN FEVER
Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.

Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING
You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.

FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING
You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?

[considering apollo is an adult who looks like 15 i think we are on the same boat.]

Shivering enough to die, thanks for asking.

[at least apollo still has his bite, but he lightens up once he finds a building sturdy enough and folds himself behind it. it does miracles on blocking the wind, but it's still literally freezing, and all he can hope to do is stay awake through the night.

this is, well, terrible.]

Zidane? That's... German, I think. [he feels dumb already.]

You don't have to offer anything, it's. It's my own fault, staying out so late. I thought I found a new building on the outskirts, with a fireplace and everything.
piece_of_tail: (do you spell that with an "i"?)

[personal profile] piece_of_tail 2015-06-03 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Zidane is rolling his eyes, though only a sliver of it can be heard in his voice.]

No, I mean, literally. If I'm remembering right, as long as you're shivering it means your body's still trying to get warm. When the reflex stops, that's when you're in trouble.

[A beat. He, for his part, doesn't feel dumb, just confused.] Uh, the heck's "German"? [...And then he clears his throat.] But yeah, I. I dunno. Back where I'm from, talking to someone without being right there with them isn't really a thing. Normally, anyway. So it just rubs me the wrong way being stuck inside without being able to do anything for the people that aren't.

Not that I've got any right to complain about it. I can at least offer company, since it's not like I'm going anywhere even if I wanted to. [There is an attempt at a light laugh. It's a valiant effort and actually half-convincing, but it's also hella brief.]
apolly: ▌livebites. (‣ panic fevers)

[oh, alright. this kid was actually from one of those worlds that definitely wasn't earth, and a little old-fashioned sounding on top of that. apollo learned a while ago to be open in these types of barrier situations but god, sometimes he just wishes everyone grew up with a cell phone.

but he nods, trusting his body instincts instead. just keep shivering. just keep clicking tee— OW GOD DAMN I BIT MY TONGUE. he covers his mouth in a wince, please hold!!]

You're way better off where you're at, trust me. [am i bleeding? oh thank god i'm not.]

Uh, German's— Germany's a country, where I'm from. Lots of good food... beer....

piece_of_tail: (hey what can you cook)

[personal profile] piece_of_tail 2015-06-03 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Zidane will be a bro and not even ask about or mention the muffled noises. He will snort, though, but at least it's in response to the conversation at hand. Yup, different worlds. Not that he's surprised, to be honest. He's not sure he'd be able to work one of these things if he was stuck out in the dark and the cold, or at least not with the practice he's had, yet.]

Well, at least it sounds not too far off from where I grew up. Lindblum, it's called. Though now that I think about it, Alexandria's cheap bars weren't too bad when I was there, either, but they do trade with each other quite a bit so that's probably why.

[Okay this might be a wistful sigh, because a drink would help with the warming up right about now. Never mind the fact that the kid's 16, deep voice for his size or not. What's a drinking age in a steampunk fantasy world?]
apolly: ▌apolly. (‣ put me on a shelf keep me to yourself)

[personal profile] apolly 2015-06-03 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[the drinking age is "developed motor functions", thanks final fantasy for being a good influence on everyone.]

Lindblum? Sounds like... an, uh. [hang on i'm freezing let my brain work.] An industrious town.

[for some reason, talking about nothing is actually happening. it's not like he had a lot of regrets in his life, no matter how weird it got when he finally became an attorney. he almost wants to talk about his 'family', but decides to... stay optimistic, for right now.]

I'm from a city called Los Angeles. I-it's where a lot of entertainment comes from and it costs a leg to live there.
piece_of_tail: (who's gonna run this bitch?)

[personal profile] piece_of_tail 2015-06-03 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Zidane, at least, isn't hurting too much in the motor skills department. Who knows if that can be said of his homeworld peers. ...Specifically the ones that aren't semi-zombie Genomes, that is.]

You're pretty good, if you could tell that just from the name.

[And hey, distraction is an excellent way to stave off panic. It's all he can do for you; sorry, buddy.]

Los Angeles, huh? [Weird name. Like he can talk.] So when you say "entertainment" you mean, what, theater? Gambling?
apolly: ▌withfireandiron. (‣ i'm trusting you)

[personal profile] apolly 2015-06-04 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
It just sounds like a book I read once. [by way of explanation, even though now he can't remember what the flying heck it was about.]

Yeah, I guess we have some casinos, but we have more... theaters, you're right. Celebrities, music, all of that.

[and just continues to casually sit here and freeze to death.]

piece_of_tail: (i'm trying to be cute)

[personal profile] piece_of_tail 2015-06-04 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[He sniffs, rubbing his nose with the cuff of one of his gloves.]

Funny. I actually grew up working in a theater district. Even with this crazy "different worlds" stuff, I guess it's reassuring to have something like that sorta in common. [It's good thing he grew up an actor, really, otherwise the positive and casual tone he's managing would reveal itself to be a whole lot more strained.] So is that your walk of life, too, or just your hometown's claim to fame?
apolly: ▌apolly. (‣ until we die)

[personal profile] apolly 2015-06-04 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ironically apollo's able to sense lies with the help of body language, but the feed is so bad he can't pick up on it. you sure are lucky, dude.]

Yeah, though I never got into theater. Now I'm really wishing I did. [the regrets-before-death crisis, oh god, it's happening.]

No, I'm a defense attorney. Until this place happened, anyway. I protected defendants in court when they were put up for trial.
piece_of_tail: (those are your mom's friends)

[personal profile] piece_of_tail 2015-06-04 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
[It's just for your benefit since you're slowly freezing to death, man. does he understand monkey tail speak]

[oh god please no not regretspeak]

Those have a lot in common, too, if you think about it. You're standing up in front of a crowd and trying to convince them of something that did or didn't happen, either way, and you can't slip up unless you want to lose the job. Just takes studying really different books.
apolly: ▌withfireandiron. (‣ i hear outlast playing)

[personal profile] apolly 2015-06-04 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I guess they're pretty much the same. Theatrics, bluffing, and a lot of screaming until you're on the right track of something.

[that's......... that's what theater was, right?? of course, hugh jackman would vouch for him.]

Doesn't it get, I dunno... repetitive? [let's try not to regretspeak for long.]
piece_of_tail: (why don't you talk about hookers?)

[personal profile] piece_of_tail 2015-06-04 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
The perk of being an actor is that the audience throws money at you if you do well, though. Maybe that's what kept me out of law instead. [He laughs. It also wouldn't be good cover for an organization of criminals in a world like Gaia, but the less said about that the better.

Theater's big where I come from, man, and people have been writing for a couple hundred years. You never really run out of plays, with that much material.
apolly: ▌bonusgauge. (‣ i didn't understand the end of incepti)

[personal profile] apolly 2015-06-04 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[well that's true, all the way back in the shakespeare days but...]

No, I mean, the acting. Play after play, knowing the script like a second language.
piece_of_tail: (ohh lookit who's here. lookit who's here)

[Shakespeare? The Bard of Avon? Heeeey, we've got Lord Avon! WHAT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S ALMOST LIKE MY CANON CONSISTS OF 90% REFERENCES TO OTHER THINGS (lol)]

Mmh, I dunno. Once you get to the point of knowing the words by heart like that, that's when you really have the chance to act. If the lines were all there was to it, it'd just be a recitation, and I'm no royal orator.

A little improvisation is always good, too. Keeps the yearly shows fresh and new, even if the story's an old classic.
apolly: ▌apolly. (‣ jesus christ)

[WE MADE YOU, YOU'RE WELCOME]

A little improvisation, huh? I know all about that. Improvising my case, improvising on testimonies... improvising my freezing death...

[well THAT didn't last long, and it's obvious on his face that his consciousness is finally close to fading out. but god he's got to try, he's got to try, so he keeps talking.]

No, screw that, I'm improvising until the doors open. [i don't remember what improvising mEANS ANYMORE]
piece_of_tail: (you're an ass)

[personal profile] piece_of_tail 2015-06-04 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
[It's hard to recover from this grimace, really, but here's hoping Apollo doesn't notice.]

I think I'd be even more worried about you that I already am if you'd actually planned something like that.

[He almost goes on to say something like "yeah, time to rough it, only X hours left," but then he realizes it's not even midnight, and... yeah. Not exactly the best pep talk line, there.]
apolly: ▌withfireandiron. (‣ since i talked to you)

[personal profile] apolly 2015-06-04 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[it makes apollo briefly think about suicide through hypothermia and he cuts that thought off immediately.]

No, don't worry about it. I'm a perfectly sane, normal guy. Just like everyone else here, missing friends and-or family.

[he thinks back to trucy and phoenix and his heart drops into his stomach but he's too frozen for it to show through the feed. just keep his eyes open, don't fade out, keep up that mantra...]

I keep wondering where they're at. Maybe it's a moot point.
