Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW... Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.
TWO: CABIN FEVER Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.
Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.
FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?
[They don't know what to think about the lack of recognition, but in some ways, he's still treating them the same. They'll have to figure this out later, maybe. It's hard to think on it too much right now.
Frisk resumes their searching. Truthfully, even as the numbness settles in their extremities, there's also a heaviness settling in their limbs, making them want to take a rest. But they can't yet. They still haven't found any kind of shelter.
[That's right, Sans had been on that roster as entertainment at MTT. It was easy to forget, sometimes. The joke gets another round of giggles (weren't there maybe two puns in there?), even as Frisk comes upon a bit of a discovery. Rounding the corner of the building they're trying to get into, there's a gaping hole where one of the walls caved in.
They shuffle a bit faster to get inside. They aren't sure if this'll be enough but... at least they'll be out of the wind. And maybe there is a sealed room they can find. Or at least something they could use to construct some kind of shelter. Sans can probably hear the sound of legs shoving their way through feet of snow reduced to feet crunching across a thin layer of it.
But maybe they should stop and rest for a moment, first. There's a spot further in where part of the ceiling's caved in too, creating a leaning surface that they're able to crawl under, for the time being. Once they settle themselves there they turn their attention back to their tablet properly.]
Thanks.
[They know they haven't been very talkative through all this - though they've never really been talkative for the sake of being talkative - but him being there helps. Listening to terrible puns helps.]
yeah, no problem. are you doing alright, kid? you kinda sound like you're outside right now...
[Which, of course, would've been very bad given that it was pretty far past curfew. And as far as he knew, nobody had actually survived a night outside in these temperatures.]
eh, how about you tell me your name, maybe jog my memory? since you seem to already know mine.
[Frisk makes a quiet, almost reluctant noise of affirmation when Sans mentions them being outside. They'd gotten lost, really. Hadn't found a set of houses until an hour or so after curfew hit. And now...
It's funny though, because while they're used to (on the whole) pretending they'd never met Sans or Papyrus or any of the others before... being asked for their name is a bit more jarring. For the longest time, no one had... it was funny, how Asriel had been the first.
Their thoughts were going to strange places as it got colder.]
F-f-frisk.
[The shivering was getting worse. Frisk set the tablet on the ground in front of them before wrapping themselves up into a ball, slipping their sleeves over their fingers. Trying to trap what heat they still had against them. It at least felt like it helped, a little.]
[Sans had been a lot better about asking since he'd come here, since everyone had been a new face. Not that he'd ever gotten the chance to ask the child what their name had been back home.
Sans could feel his heart sink at the confirmation that the kid had gotten themselves trapped outside...]
alright, frisk, make sure you're someplace away from all the elements, alright? it's impossible to get inside at this hour but any small place to get out of the wind and snow helps. make sure you're layered up and keep your hands under your armpits.
i'm afraid you're gonna have to wait til morning to find shelter, but I'll keep you company, alright? do you want me to tell you some more jokes?
[The fact that Sans at least is giving the surface appearance that he thinks they might be able to make it to morning is reassuring in its own way. Frisk had been holding on to that hope, so to hear it from someone else.
And where they were now... wasn't that far off. Frisk didn't have very many layers, unfortunately. But if they crawled a little further back, the half-fallen floor above actually made decent protective barrier, almost a lean-to like structure. And so Frisk does just that.]
J-j-jokes would be great.
[Settling down against the wall, Frisk re-sets up their tablet then jams their fingers under their armpits. They almost immediately regret it - their fingers are freezing]
[Sans wanted to hope that maybe it was possible, to at least last for one night. Even if it had never happened before, there was still time to break that precedent, right? Sans wasn't aware of how bad Frisk's clothing situation was, though... Well, ignorance is bliss.]
alright, stay with me frisk. we're gonna be at this til morning.
you ever hear about the most famous skeleton rock star? his name was pelvis presley.
[The thought of what Toriel would say to that is funny in and of itself. Well, the thought if they were both back home and circumstances weren't what they were. But it was hard to stay determined thinking about circumstances as they were, so Frisk doesn't.
Once the snicker the joke elicits dies, though, they start thinking about Toriel, and that reminds them of how she and Sans used to tell jokes to each other, though. Maybe...]
M-my turn?
Edited (BECAUSE FRISK LAUGHED AND I FORGOT TO SAY THAT also making text flow better) 2015-10-24 05:47 (UTC)
[In all honesty they were pretty sure they did remember hearing something about how cold and getting sleepy was bad. Maybe back home, or since they got here. Which... probably meant how tired they were already wasn't a good thing.
For now though, jokes. Like the ones that Frisk had gotten used to hearing on a daily basis back home.]
[Sans couldn't even remember how it worked, given he had to learn all of this stuff fresh since he didn't get hypothermia back before he was stuck into this place. But sleep... he did hear bad stories about freezing to death in your sleep, and he wasn't going to take the chance.]
[Hey that should be their line right about now. Frisk giggles softly anyways.
Makes them really wish they were in Hotland right now. Or hugging a Vulkin. it takes them a few moment's silence to remember that it's their turn now. Um...]
Th-this one's got t-t-two parts.
[This one was one of the ones Frisk could remember hearing when they were little, around the school yard. Frisk hadn't been terribly popular there but there were some jokes that everybody heard.]
[Hey, irony could be a bit funny, and maybe making light of the situation would help them both forget how horrible the situation really was. That was how Sans usually approached these things...]
heh, a unique rabbit? you got me there, kid. how do you catch a unique rabbit?
[And it is working! Frisk is having a harder time focusing on the cold. Unfortunately it's being helped a long in part by hypothermia - Frisk thinks their shivers are starting to get less bad, which gives the deception that they're in less trouble.
They just... gotta stay determined right? They'll get through this. They still do wish they could hug a Vulkin right now though.]
