Network Prompts
ONE: A LONG WALK HOME
You wake up at 6AM when lockdown ends, cold and tired, like you've been walking miles in the snow. But that's normal, isn't it? What isn't normal is your surroundings. You're in a new building, maybe one you've never seen before, or one you know is far, far away from where you were the night before when you fell asleep. If you were traveling with someone, you notice, also, that you are alone. There's no telling where your traveling companion could be.

When you check the network, you notice that @ADMIN has left a message.

Surveillance encountered an error shortly after 8PM last night and was out of order until shortly after 6AM. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Whether or not you're confused or concerned about the message, maybe a post to the network will help you re-orient yourself.

TWO: GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE...
Seems you've found a rather valuable commodity. Something like alcohol, tea, coffee, cigarettes, or perhaps even something medical. Whatever you've found, you have no real interest in it, yourself. But you know that there's a market for it, and you see the opportunity to turn this into a win-win situation. You're not physically around anyone that you know of, so you propose a network-wide trade. And whoever makes the sweetest deal can be the proud owner of their craved luxury.

Action Prompts
THREE: A SYMPHONY OF SOUND
You and your traveling companion thought that the house you decided to stop in for the night seemed normal enough. But lockdown hits, as it does every night, and things start to get strange. Soft sounds of crying; children crying, parents crying, screaming for their own safety. Maybe it's just the sound of the wind rushing so hard through the rubble you fear the ceiling will collapse. Maybe it's your own voice whispering to you to do awful things. Whatever the noise is, it's too much for you to fall asleep, coming to eerie crescendos and ebbing in volume at entirely irregular intervals. Looks like you and whoever you're with are in for a long night.

FOUR: IN DUE TIME
After a grueling day of travel, you and your companion finally come across safe shelter. And it seems to be a nice house, too, with a working fireplace and everything. The only strange part is that you aren't alone--but the other people in the house don't seem to be aware of you. In fact, they don't seem to be aware of anything; they're frozen in time, unmoving, unblinking, not even breathing. They can be touched, but they can't be moved. No matter how hard you try, they're rooted to the spot. They seem to be like you, weighed down with heavy winter wear and backpacks, not like the nondescript shadowy people that wander the town.

Oh well. They're probably harmless, and it isn't like you have time to find a different place to stay.

[sorry, I had a rough week...]

[Twilight keeps trotting around and she's back on one of the people who was walking, checking again the line she traced with her horn on the floor. No movements, not yet. And guess who still has to actually look up at Frisk's face to notice something is off.]

That's good- [She cheerfully replies waving her hoof midair] And don't worry, you'll learn how to use a tablet. They seem complicated, at first, but they're extremely user friendly when... uh.. there's a couch?

[And the sounds of hooves on the floor approaches again, it seems she finally noticed what was wrong. Sweet Celestia, has this small human been alone so long facing the frozen city... without sight? It looks liek her studies on the frozen adventurers can wait.

Actually, why don't you just lean a hand on my back and follow me? [This time she moves close enough to touch his legs with her flanks. She can guide him (or her? It's hard to tell with this bipedal species) to a safe spot to rest and return to the rest later.] So, I'm Twilight, what's your name... [foal?] you?

hey man it's fine, i know what it's like

[Yup. Frisk is, quite literally in this world, snowblind.

They lay gently lay a (cold) hand on her back, letting Twilight lead the way. She'd been here longer than they have, it seems, and most likely knows what she's doing- plus, it's good to have a partner, especially one as keen-eyed and analytical as she is.]

I'm Frisk. It's nice to meet you, Twilight.

[Despite the situation, they seem relatively upbeat.]

AND HERE I AM!

[personal profile] bookalicious 2016-04-27 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, don't worry, She can be quite the supportive unicorn, even if her studies tend to distract her a lot.

And look, her fur is even protecting her from Frisk's cold fingers. The unicorn silently leads the way, making sure her hooves stomps on the floor a bit louder so the human... however their foals are called- will be able to oriantate themselves a bit better.
]

Well, the pleasure is mine, Frisk. It's certainly nice to meet someone who can move. And, here we are, in front of the fire. You can take a few steps back and sit down, there's a small couch but it's right behind you now.
This is one of the best buildings I've seen so far, we even have tap water in case you're thirsty [Who knows what the young one needs? But it's a creature in need and she's not going to let him wander around unattended.]

I don't know what else to offer, my world has no indigenous humans and all I know from what I've see is that they're an omnivorous biped species [Meaning they eat hay... right?] but... you're the first one I properly meet.

[personal profile] mercybutton 2016-04-28 03:16 am (UTC)(link)

[They steb back and sink into the couch. It's not the first time they've been travel-weary, but they haven't sat down in anything properly cushioned for a while- always improvising by using their bag as a pillow on hardwood floor, or maybe atop a shelf in case of ground drafts or the things that go bump in the night. Of course, that's only when they find one. Better safe than sorry.]

Well, I'm glad I could be your first. You're also the first monster I've met so far- well, first anyone, actually.

[She would take her coat off to give it to Frisk if she had her magic, the fur and the fire should be ehough to keep her comfortable, but not only her horn seems completely useless but her hooves are no longer prehensile since she woke up in Norfinbury- no Earth pony way avaiable for Twilight.

It was really hard, at first, using almost everything with her mouth and having... awkward stumps at the end of her legs but slowly she's getting slowly used to it.
]

Monster? [Twilight flattens her ears and pouts, that's... not really nice. But then again, they don't know what they're talking with, do they?] Oh, no no no... I'm no monster, I'm an unicorn. And you are a baby human, aren't you? Oh, and if you still have your tablet- give it to me, please. There's a vocal function, I have to rely on it because my hooves don't really work on the screen, and it should be enough to let you use your device as well.

[She jumps on the small couch, sitting on the side and leaning against them to give the human foal some warmt, from the size she doesn't seem much larger than a really big dog.]

So... how long have you been here, exactly?

[personal profile] mercybutton 2016-04-28 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)

[it takes them a second to realize that "monster" doesn't always mean the same thing across universes.] ... Oh, I'm sorry. In my world, "monster" is just a general term for a race of nonhumans whose bodies take all sorts of forms. Yes, I'm a child... I don't know if I still have it, it might have fallen out somewhere. Hold on.

[They take their backpack off and set it on their lap, rummaging through the contents. The outside environment has made everything inside very cold and their water bottle has frozen, but they find the tablet, and immediately set it down. It's comforting to have someone else here.]

I see. Well, I don't think we have real... monsters in my world? Everything is something and even the wildest creature- I don't think we use that term too often, especially not to refer to other sentient creatures. But no offense taken, I can understand cultural differences between different worlds.

[And if Twilight considers a bit rude to call 'monster' so many different creatures she doesn't mention it.]

And- oh, child! [So they only call their foals 'children', good to know.] If you lost yours you can use mine, it's not like I touch it too often. Oh, wait-

[Twilight leans even closer, squeezing her muzzle between Frisk's items to grab their frozen bottle] Jhusht a shecnd- [There's a fireplace, why not leaving the bottle in front of it to let it melt? After a moment she's back again at their side, now trying to hold their tablet in balance between her hooves and use it with her horn. And failing, the device drops on the floor three times before the unicorn decides to ask for help.]
Can you please hold it up for me? It would make things definitely easier...

[personal profile] mercybutton 2016-04-29 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Yeah, here.

[Slipping their sweater over their hands, they grasp the tablet and hold it up for Twilight, a little too close. They aren't going to touch it with their bare hands- the glass and metal are still freezing cold from the outside climate.

It's also upside-down, unless the screen can flip over like an iPhone's.]
Is this right?
