If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: A LONG WALK HOME
You wake up at 6AM when lockdown ends, cold and tired, like you've been walking miles in the snow. But that's normal, isn't it? What isn't normal is your surroundings. You're in a new building, maybe one you've never seen before, or one you know is far, far away from where you were the night before when you fell asleep. If you were traveling with someone, you notice, also, that you are alone. There's no telling where your traveling companion could be.

When you check the network, you notice that @ADMIN has left a message.

Surveillance encountered an error shortly after 8PM last night and was out of order until shortly after 6AM. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Whether or not you're confused or concerned about the message, maybe a post to the network will help you re-orient yourself.

TWO: GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE...
Seems you've found a rather valuable commodity. Something like alcohol, tea, coffee, cigarettes, or perhaps even something medical. Whatever you've found, you have no real interest in it, yourself. But you know that there's a market for it, and you see the opportunity to turn this into a win-win situation. You're not physically around anyone that you know of, so you propose a network-wide trade. And whoever makes the sweetest deal can be the proud owner of their craved luxury.

Action Prompts
THREE: A SYMPHONY OF SOUND
You and your traveling companion thought that the house you decided to stop in for the night seemed normal enough. But lockdown hits, as it does every night, and things start to get strange. Soft sounds of crying; children crying, parents crying, screaming for their own safety. Maybe it's just the sound of the wind rushing so hard through the rubble you fear the ceiling will collapse. Maybe it's your own voice whispering to you to do awful things. Whatever the noise is, it's too much for you to fall asleep, coming to eerie crescendos and ebbing in volume at entirely irregular intervals. Looks like you and whoever you're with are in for a long night.

FOUR: IN DUE TIME
After a grueling day of travel, you and your companion finally come across safe shelter. And it seems to be a nice house, too, with a working fireplace and everything. The only strange part is that you aren't alone--but the other people in the house don't seem to be aware of you. In fact, they don't seem to be aware of anything; they're frozen in time, unmoving, unblinking, not even breathing. They can be touched, but they can't be moved. No matter how hard you try, they're rooted to the spot. They seem to be like you, weighed down with heavy winter wear and backpacks, not like the nondescript shadowy people that wander the town.

Oh well. They're probably harmless, and it isn't like you have time to find a different place to stay.

[Looking down at his hands, Kid sees that three fingers of each hand are looking the same shade of reddish purple that is indicative of frostbite. He looks back to the tablet, slipping both hands into his pockets.] ...same fingers on both hands. I didn't even notice.

[Yes, Stein. He's less concerned because it is the same fingers on both hands.] I'll look for what's worth taking and then get out.

What direction do I head in to start moving your way? [Thankfully, he still makes sense, though he's dropped all of his attempts to seem older--his language is more like his peers. Mostly. You know, except for not being too concerned about frostbite because it's in the same place on both hands.]

Well, at least it isn't different fingers on each hand! [He should be more concerned, but he isn't. Oh well.]

Head south, and then follow the wall west. The entrance to the ice caves is near the southwestern edge.

[A wry smile crosses his face.] I'll take the victories I can get.

[Yeah and he means that so...

With a shiver, he looks back to the door and then the camera, nodding.]
You stayed at the caves. South, and when I find the wall, follow it west. About how far--a day, or longer?

You'll do much better with your victories if you find a way to get warm.

I'll leave here soon, and start coming your way. [But he knows that convenience store. He knows how far away it is. And he knows Kid is in trouble.]

It's going to be at least a week before we meet up, unless the weather improves dramatically. I want an update every night on your current location and status.

I don't know how you manage.

[Unlike earlier, there isn't a hint of humor in his tone.

As for the second comment, Kid's response is flat and equally monotone as his first, unamused.]
I hope you are prepared for updates on location to include "largely collapsed building surrounded by snow", since that's what everything looks like around here.

[Grumpy, hungry and overtired teenager who has never had to deal with the consequences of being hungry and overtired is grumpy, hungry and overtired.]

Most humans can tolerate the cold if provided with sufficient clothing and food. I have more problems than most, because of issues with thermoregulation, but I haven't lost any appendages yet.

[Yet being the operative word. It's going to happen eventually, he already has problems mentally because of the cold.]

Some of those largely collapsed buildings surrounded by snow have hot running water.

It would be better if you did not lose any limbs.

[Shut your face and find some gloves in the store, Kid, before you lose an appendage first. And while you're at it, find some food, and some water. Think about the things that are needed to get a human through the day--you need them too, now.

It will take far too long to adjust to the need to react to the signs his body sends him. Hopefully, it will not take longer than it does for him to die from not addressing physiological needs.]

Some being the key word.
circumsutus: (more waiting)

[personal profile] circumsutus 2016-05-02 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
You shouldn't either. Did you find anything else to wear? [Those hands were a problem, and if there's that much discoloration already, Kid's really not in good condition.]

And some have food, and some have clothes. You are going to need to learn to take advantage of every possible source of supplies here.

I have a hat. [Looking around the small store, it's clear that Kid wasn't the first visitor today--someone had been here earlier and the pickings were slim at best. There wasn't much, and there really hadn't been much in the hallway-house he'd awoken in, either.

He might pretend he's got everything nicely together, but he is growing increasingly uncomfortable with the situation. A small shiver runs through him, and he nods.]
There was nothing in the other house. I'll be sure to pick through what's here.
