Network Prompts
ONE: IT'S THE INSIDE THAT COUNTS When you found the SD Card containing XRAY.EXE, you couldn't stop yourself from being a bit excited. This is definitely going to be something useful. Or so you think. It seems normal when you try it on yourself. You see all the bones in your hand underneath the skin. Pretty cool. But then you keep trying it on things to see if it can see through things other than living tissue. And, well, you didn't really need to see the pulsing organs and bone structure of the cabinets. Definitely not the beating heart inside of the matress you've been sleeping on.
Maybe someone will be willing to take this SD card off of your hands.
TWO: GROWING PAINS You woke up with a crick in your neck. You're sure, at first, that you just slept funny, but the ache hasn't gone away throughout the day. In fact, sometimes when you rub the skin in the offending area you're pretty sure you can feel a protrusion just beneath the skin. Maybe it's all in your head, but you think you'd feel just a little bit better if you could have a second opinion. If nothing else, maybe someone would be willing to share some kind of medication with you to ease the stiffness. For all you know, all you need is another night's sleep to clear it up. Still, surviving here is hard enough without having a potential spine-related complication hanging over you. Best to get the all clear as soon as possible.
Whether or not there's anything actually there at all...well, you'll just have to wait and see what the Network consensus is. Confusingly, the response may be different from person to person.
Action Prompts
THREE: THE BONE ZONE The second the two of you stepped foot into this house you knew you weren't going to be comfortable staying in it for the night. Unfortunately, lockdown hits before you can think about backing out and trying to find another option. So what's the problem with this place? Everything is made of bones. The furniture, the decorations, even the walls and floor. It's the best you can do to hope that they're fake. Maybe this was a house belonging to Halloween enthusiasts? With luck, you'll still be able to find some useful items in the drawers. With even more luck, you'll still be able to get some sleep tonight.
FOUR: SPOOKY SCARY SKELETON You almost done realize that something's after you and your traveling companion. It's not until the snow-covered skeleton is hot on your heels that you realize you need to run. The thing hangs low to the ground, gliding over the snow like it's nothing, silent and camouflaged. It's the clinking of the bones as they tap against one another that tips you off. That, and the piercing bloodshot eyes it has--real, human eyes when it shouldn't have any. Fortunately, your destination isn't too far in front of you. If you hurry and utilize some fast-thinking, the two of you should be able to make it in to safety. The real tricky part will be making sure that it doesn't follow you inside.
That's where teamwork comes into play. Hopefully, the two of you are able to work together.

James Bond | James Bond (Skyfall)
[ Hello, Norfinbury, you're being greeted by someone who looks so very happy to be here. It's cold and it's dark, two things that only add to his happiness, or lack thereof.
But he's also just found an SD card and inserted it into his tablet. It does exactly what it says on the label, which is to act as a portable X-ray machine of sorts. ]
Fascinating. I always wanted to see the inside of my own hand.
[ Or at least, the bones in his hand. As he's shifting the tablet around, he happens to pass it over the object closest to him, which happens to be a mattress. What he sees causes him to nearly drop the tablet to the floor. ]
What in the-
[ He cuts himself off, but that surely is a beating heart apparently contained inside said mattress. Suddenly, the SD card is a lot less interesting. ]
Pleasant.
two; bone zone
[ There isn't a lot that rattles Bond. He's seen it all, more or less, and on top of that, he's been through a lot.
But none of his experiences could prepare him for this room that's made of nothing but bones. ]
Is this meant to be real?
[ He asks of his traveling companion, a note of disbelief in his voice. The bones certainly appear real enough, but he's not quite sure he wants to feel them for himself. ]
Do those who happen to die here have the pleasure of being turned into houses?
[ If so, then he would rather not die. He doesn't much fancy the idea of his bones being used to construct a house. ]
two;
[ Miranda's voice is (bone) dry as she enters the room, light on her feet to avoid disturbing anything that might be lying in wait. ]
- At least not during the present cycle. These were some of the previous residents, I suppose.
[ She pauses to consider a rather tasteless skull goblet. ]
no subject
[ Something outlandish and impossible, perhaps. ]
So we have a similar fate to look forward to, I assume.
[ Maybe not one involving bones, but something equally pleasant to look at. ]
One--@theiceman, audio
The potential for someone with a high level skill set could be a welcome thing...or not.
If he's a rogue player, they would all be in trouble. He peers at the screen, attempting to deduce more, if he might recognize something about him.
He's more of a Sean Connery Bond fan.]What's in the mattress?
[Regardless of his origins, there's definitely something strange going on at his location.]
no subject
How this conversation goes may change that for good or bad. And he can be a rogue player but only when the situation calls for it. More often, he prefers not to go rogue. He's not above it, but it's hardly ideal.
Sean Connery has nothing on him.]A heart. A beating human heart, to be precise. Or rather, I assume it's human based on its appearance.

two
That or wallpaper. The access tunnel to the columbarium looks a lot like this, too. We've already found too many remains for a town of this size.

[ Bond make an inscrutable sound. It could be annoyance, or disgust, or a mixture of the two. ]
What are we, test subjects to be scattered about after our deaths?

Claptrap | Borderlands
Hello, minions! I have terrible news!
[As always, Claptrap's robotic sounds obnoxiously excited despite what he's actually saying.]
I've become just like all of you! A disgusting organic bag of meat and bones!
[He gesticulates wildly, obviously in great distress.]
I know I'm being wildly racist right now, but can you blame me? This is the worst day of my already incredibly traumatic life!
two; spooky scary skeleton
[Claptrap is already fleeing the skeleton monster as fast as his single wheel and inelegant design will let him. Which, as it turns out, is surprisingly fast.]
Save me, minion! Use your gun! Murder it to tiny pieces!
[He knows perfectly well that nobody in Norfinbury has a gun. Too bad he's not the fastest thinker even when not overcome by panic.]
one; @guardian; video;
Um, I think... you're mistaken. You still look like a perfectly ordinary little robot to me.
[ Ordinary in all respects except for being FAR TOO CUTE! AND FUNNY! LOOK! AT! HIM!! ]
no subject
[He holds up a hand in a triumphant motion. HE KNOWS SOMETHING YOU DON'T! AND IS ACTUALLY QUITE UPSET ABOUT IT!]
Even though I retain my absurdly handsome outward appearance, you know what they say! It's what on the inside that counts! And my insides have mysteriously been turned into a gross, squishy mess!

SKELLINGTONS
[ Rhys is no stranger to panic, though he's been though enough of these situations to stay calmer than Claptrap.
Which isn't saying much, actually.
Esepecially when the unit is beING THE ACTUAL WORST. AND IS AHEAD OF HIM. NOT COOL. ]
no subject
I would never abandon you, pal! Now kill the thing!
[Screamed while slamming open the door of the nearest house. It says a lot about his levels of fear that he doesn't even bother to go "aaaaaand open!" at it.
To his credit, he doesn't slam the door in Rhys' face. Which is something?]

1 ; @imtheboss, video
[ With an exasperated sigh, he turns his feed on. There's still a cloud of static obscuring his face, but he's clearly seen better days despite how much he's preened himself. Presentation is important all the same, okay. ]
Soooo. [ Vasquez leans forward, steepling his fingers. His tone's already less than pleased, but he doesn't sound livid. Yet? ] You done having your existential crisis over...whatever? 'Cause I got a 'couple questions for you when you are. But no rush-- go on ahead and keep screaming if you want. I got nothin' but time.
[ The way he says that implies that there's only so long he's willing to wait, though. ]
no subject
Whoa, buddy, what's wrong with your face? Looks like you've got some bad reception there!
[So of course everything he said is getting completely ignored in favour of a helpful observation. Because that is how Claptrap rolls.]
2B | NieR: Automata (spoilers?)
[Back home, this was a typical mission for her: finding chips. 2B's not sure what the purpose of this one is until she holds it up. It's not bones she sees though; it's her metal skeleton and wires. It still makes her shiver a little though. The only time she's seen her insides was from damage. And there were no repairs here.
The view of the house really does spook her even if she mostly is able to keep it to herself. Everything was too...organic, and she hates it. She quickly looks away from it while shaking her head.
Normally she'd have her pod with her to give an explanation, but he wasn't here. 2B actually kind of missed him. In any case, she pulled up the network to reach out.]
Mission update: XRAY.EXE acquired. ...So who wants it?
Three
[Speaking of organic houses, this one was almost as disgusting as the organ house. It just bothers her a little less, but if she could feel sick, she would. It's too late to worry about it now though. They were trapped and had to do their best.
She turns to her companion with a straight face.]
You gonna be okay?
[She is a bodyguard after all.]
3 ;
I'm definitely putting this on the list of shit I'm taking up with management, but I'll live. [ He wrinkles his nose, pushing a nearby skeletal chair away with his foot. ] Don't think I wanna know where they got all the raw materials for this from, though. You think they're real, or...?
no subject
Given in the rest of this messed up city, yes I believe they are.
[She's not the most comforting person.]
Anyway... we should at least try to rest. Maybe we can find you a mattress not made of bones.

Will Graham | Hannibal
[ This XRAY.EXE was supposed to be a ... good thing?
Hadn't he heard that? Maybe he'd heard that? Had he'd just imagined he'd heard that? Will really wasn't sure and this place was not particularly conducive to assisting his already suspect hold on reality. Which was part of why he'd been sitting in this house for the past few hours, looking from inanimate object to inanimate object and their accompanying organic organs.
He'd eventually ended up on the floor, with his back to a wall. Not because he felt safe there, as opposed to a chair, but because he refused to turn the tablet towards either the floor, or the wall. He didn't want to see veins running along either structure, the pulse of blood moving through the elastic tubes.
After rubbing his eyes for the hundredth time, Will reached and flipped on the audio function of the tablet. ]
I'm still not convinced that I'm not speaking with constructs of my own mind. [ His voice was surprisingly calm, for a man who was admitting to the fact that he believed he was currently insane. ]
But on the off chance my subconscious [ subconscious equaling other trapped citizens ] is willing to be more forthcoming with its abstract imagery, does anyone want to speak to the psychological implications of seeing living organs within inanimate objects?
[ He paused, feeling the words on his tongue and caught on the inappropriate desire to chuckle. ]
Is this some deep seated desire of mine to hug a chair?
Action - The Bone Zone!
[ The goods news was, the ex-profiler was starting to settle into the idea that at least some of this was not a figment of his overactive imagination. Possibly even including the unfortunate individual(s) trapped in the house with him.
The bad news, however, came when he finished investigating a table leg and sat back on his heels to calmly announce. ]
These are real and the construction work on this table is practically art. Whoever made this knew what they were doing with these remains. [ He sounds genuinely appreciative of the craftsmanship.
Straightening up, he glanced around the room and towards the walls, brushing off his hands as he paced the area in a curious circle, before approaching a wall that appeared to be made up of humerus bones. ]
This wall alone would have taken over a hundred bodies. [ And isn't that a comforting thought. Will reached up to tap at the bone, trying to determine how it was secured. ]
@LELRIC; audio
...it's possible they were once people that were alive and something went wrong with the revival process?
@w.graham; audio
Instead he quirked an eyebrow and shrugged. ]
A reasonable possibility. [ He agreed. ] Revival processes usually don't go the way you expect.
[ Whether it was by trying to stuff mortal wounds with antler velvet or ... making people into furniture. ]
Haven't seen any brains. Have you seen any brains?

If you want to get your snuggle on with the cushions, I'm not about to stop you, but you're kind of late to be thinking everyone's fake here. Been there, done that, wound up dead but came back a few days later minus the ability to talk for a while. Don't be like me, broseph.
But since my sister's not here, I'll give you the easy answer to the other part: it's not your mind doing the weird thing. At least not on its own. Have you heard about the nanomachines yet? They make us see weird shit all the time. I found, like, a box of organs here once that wasn't actually there. Still super fucked up, but it's not on you if the couch has a heartbeat now.
Have you been staying there a few days? I've heard if you stick to one place too long it can cause hallucinations.

Unfortunately, you'll find more than a few places like these around here. [ He frowns, because it is unfortunate in his eyes. ] And those belonged to a person once, which you've already determined.
No one knows for sure, but it doesn't seem too far-fetched to say that might be what happens to us after our deaths. It's always been my life's ambition to become a table leg or a wall once I'm gone.
