TEST DRIVE MEME

If you'd like to apply to Snowblind and would like to test the waters first or get a sample set up for your application, this meme is for you! We've even provided some prompts for you to use if you want (but feel free to make up your own). Here's how it works.
✭ Reply to this entry with a character you're considering apping into the game. You can include the name of your character and the fandom in your subject line.
✭ Comment around to others on the meme, whether you're in the game already or not.
✭ Now you have a sample ready for your application!
✭ So go reserve and apply when reservations and applications are open.
✭ Seriously, do it.

Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW...
Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.

TWO: CABIN FEVER
Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.

Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING
You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.

FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING
You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?

Food, water, a few bandages, a blanket--which I am currently using--and one of those little flint and steel... [No, they have the little oil supplies in them to make a proper flame, what are they--] a lighter, but no wood or kindling. I wasn't yet within sight of the building I was aiming for when night fell, so I dug myself a hole in the snow, which is where I am now.

[Clint ran over all of that in his head before he nodded slightly.]

The bandages are good for kindling and some warmth at the very least but you'll have to use them sparingly. Don't sacrifice your blanket because right now that's the one thing keeping you somewhat safe.

[A hole wasn't a horrible idea. It wouldn't save Bard from the cold but it would at least buy him some time.]

Wrap yourself up as tight--the less cold air that can get in, the better.
pointnshoot: (I'm thinking maybe...)

[personal profile] pointnshoot 2015-05-27 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[The very idea of burning perfectly serviceable bandages! But Clint is right to mention them as they'd do no good to a man who's frozen to death, so Bard sets them aside for later before tucking the blanket more securely around himself.]

Dealt with these conditions before, have you?
genuinepleasure: (Child's play)

[personal profile] genuinepleasure 2015-05-28 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
In my line of work, you learn to be prepared for anything.

[And SHIELD had put him and everyone like him through some pretty intense training so he was handling the weather in this place fairly well.

For now.]

You may want to rub your arms and legs down if you start to feel them go numb to keep them from freezing on you. It's not going to do you any good if I find a way to get you inside and you can't move.
pointnshoot: (I lead a life of crime)

[personal profile] pointnshoot 2015-05-28 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[That part, Bard already knows to do--you don't need to understand the principles of friction to know it works--but Clint is being helpful so Bard will let him get the basics out of the way.]

If you manage to climb out a chimney, you'll have to tell me how for future reference. [Because he's tried the locks from both sides, friend, and unless there's a lock-picking arrow stashed somewhere on Clint's person, all he expects is to keep buying time.]
genuinepleasure: (What the fuck)

[personal profile] genuinepleasure 2015-05-28 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I actually haven't tried that route yet. The roofs in general.

[And he was a bit disappointed in himself that he hadn't but honestly? He wasn't expecting much. This wasn't the first time he'd been faced with someone stuck outside and he'd come up with nothing then as well.]

Considering you're the second person I've seen get trapped outside, I'm really starting to wonder just how deranged the people that brought us here are.
pointnshoot: (I've done more with less)

[personal profile] pointnshoot 2015-05-28 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bard hasn't really considered trying to get to the roofs since shortly after he got here, unable to find proper rope and so far unwilling to sacrifice precious blankets in the crafting of some, but now he's put the idea in someone else's head, maybe it'll have a chance of surviving to be tested.

Anyway, Clint isn't the only one to wonder about their mysterious malefactor(s).]

I imagine they're the wicked sort through and through, although a very small part of me suspects they're just trying to find someone who can figure out how to pick their faulty locks.
genuinepleasure: (You are stupid.)

[personal profile] genuinepleasure 2015-05-29 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
[This sort of situation is exactly why he's glad he's got the assortment of arrows that he does. It'll make getting to the roofs a lot easier.]

So you're thinking this is all some sort of test? [A pause.] You know, considering the deranged people I've run into in the past, I wouldn't be surprised. I hope that's not the case because I feel like I'd be more pissed off about it all if it was.

pointnshoot: (okay but listen)

[personal profile] pointnshoot 2015-05-30 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Less a test and more indentured locksmithing, but the end result seems to be the same.

[The cold is slowly but steadily getting worse. He's starting to shiver just the tiniest bit, enough to realize he'll probably have to make with the burning things soon, but for now he's okay.]

What I wouldn't give for a dwarf right now.
genuinepleasure: (Are you stupid?)

[personal profile] genuinepleasure 2015-05-31 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Clint can't help but snort softly.]

Indentured locksmithing. I like that.

[And it was one of the weirder situations Clint would have found himself it but it definitely wouldn't be the weirdest.]

..How exactly would a dwarf be helpful?

[Not that he has anything against dwarves but, really? A dwarf? Of all things you could ask for?]
pointnshoot: (oh yes absolutely)

[personal profile] pointnshoot 2015-05-31 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[This isn't the first time Bard has been unimpressed by wherever it is most of these other people seem to be from, although for once "and it won't be the last" doesn't seem accurate. Of course a dwarf would be helpful!]

Where I come from, they're all craftsmen of some sort. Mind you, a scribe or woodcarver or what have you probably wouldn't do much good, but if you get one familiar with little fiddly bits I expect they'd figure those locks out soon enough.

[Which, okay, mostly he's basing that last bit on the unparalleled stubbornness of the dwarves he has met, but that stubbornness would make a believer of anybody.]
genuinepleasure: (Uh huh)

[personal profile] genuinepleasure 2015-06-01 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. If I was better skilled in lock picking I'd give it a go but that was never my forte, honestly.

[Spies had a lot of skills and some excelled in some while failing in others. Picking locks required time and patience that Clint just didn't always have.]

Considering the way these doors seem to work, I feel like we may need someone tech savvy to solve this problem unfortunately.

[Again, not his forte.

The archer's eyes narrow slightly, a bit of a concerned look appearing.]

You may want to start a fire, Bard.
pointnshoot: (everything is NOT awesome)

[personal profile] pointnshoot 2015-06-01 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
[He hadn't even noticed when the shivering went from annoying-but-tolerable to noticeable. Damn. Bard separates his bandages into two piles, then makes a decision and fishes out some dry noodles; the smell won't be pleasant, but there's room for the smoke to escape and it'll keep the fire going longer, which he needs more than food tonight.]

It's only a matter of time. Someone will figure the locks out eventually if only the people trapped here endure.
genuinepleasure: (Taking aim)

[personal profile] genuinepleasure 2015-06-01 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure we'll figure out a lot about this place, in due time.

[And a large part of Clint was pretty sure he wasn't going to be pleased when they did find out just exactly what was going on here.

He watched what the other was doing, pleased as he notes the way the other adds in some dry noodles to help it along.

Smart man.]

I have a feeling rounding up all the super smart people stuck here too may be a good way to start figuring out these doors.
