Network Prompts
ONE: BUMP IN THE NIGHT It's dark out, and congratulations - you're inside! What's not inside, you might ask? Monsters. Shadowy monsters that have surrounded whatever house you've taken shelter in. They can't get in... or can they? From time to time, the doors and the walls creak as if under an unbearable pressure.
Who can sleep when it's like this? Maybe you should take to the network to find a distraction. Or maybe someone has advice for getting rid of those things.
TWO: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD We mourn the loss of those who have died in the time between the last announcement and this one:
...is that your name on that list? It might be. Maybe you should let the others know you're not actually dead. Or, you know, if you happen to spot the name of someone you know and love on there, it might be time to ask around and see if anyone knows what happened to your dearly departed...
Action Prompts
THREE: KYRIE ELEISON You've found yourself in a small chapel, complete with bolted-down pews, an altar devoid of symbols, and stained glass windows depicting various saints. It's quiet... one might even say dead quiet. Which is a really awful pun to be making, considering if you follow the stairs down to the basement you'll find a morgue.
Explore to your heart's content, but you'll be forced out at 7 PM. Hopefully you don't find any unfortunately familiar faces among the dead.
FOUR: LIGHTS OUT Against all odds, you've managed to make it to shelter for the night. You pull the door shut behind you and turn to look at your surroundings - and that's when you see it. A ... person. Is it a person? It's hard to tell, because a moment later, you're plunged into darkness.
...better hope that's another unfortunate visitor to Norfinbury you've been locked in with, and not something more threatening.
[The snoring breaks the boss monster from her reprieve entirely. She moves forward, curious to find whomever decided this was a good place to sleep. She stops in front of the pew, debating whether to wake the person up before recognizing the monster before her.
Somehow Sans being the answer is a relief. She steps forward reaching out to gently touch the skeleton's shoulder.]
[The wink relaxes Toriel, making her smile for the first time in quite awhile. She doesn't even wonder how he can sleep on something like a pew, its Sans. He can sleep anywhere and everywhere.] I'm glad it's not a common habit of yours. I'd be a bit worried.
[The genuineness of it makes her own smile blossom into something brighter. Toriel laughs lightly as well.] Now, now- I'm just some old goat. Hardly exciting.
[ maybe he ought to be more concerned about this, but. yeah, concern can wait. ]
Unexciting, you? Hey, I'm practically going into shock over seeing you. [ he slumps over the armrest bonelessly in a mock collapse, wide grin going even wider. ] I don't know if I could recover. Pray for me.
[That sound is Toriel giving an undignified snort at his dramatics. She glances around the church before adding very helpfully.] I suppose we're in the right place for it.
[She places her hands together in what she vaguely remembers is a prayer motion. Human religion is foggy for her.] I pray you a swift recovery. Otherwise I'll have no one to share jokes with.
I gotta admit, I'd hate to leave you hanging without a good joke buddy. But maybe even prayer isn't going to be enough for me. I'm feeling real dead...
Beat. [ what a lazybones. he sprawls back in danger of napping again, though his eyes still glow under half-closed black sockets. he'd never fall asleep on Toriel, really. ]
You do look dead tired. [She offers back with a laugh, her pun game is a bit off at the moment. She finally moves to take a seat next to Sans on the pew. The boss monster leaves him enough room to wiggle around as he sees fit.
There are many questions she wants to ask, but asking feels wrong in this moment. She just wants to be happy to see a friend again.]
You've got me there. [ it's... true... and honestly it's practically impossible to tell with that skeleton smile, but. ugh he's glad she's around. danger and all. probably a selfish thing to say, but he's too lazy to overthink it.
he just grins up at her while prone on the pews, tucking his arms behind his head. ]
But I mean it. You're a sight for sore eyesockets, Tori.
The feeling is mutual. [She reaches out to pat his slippered foot fondly.] I was worried I was alone here. It is very selfish I know, but- I've just gotten used to company again.
[She realizes that is a bit too honest to keep things light hearted as she had wanted to. It's clear enough on her features as she tries to shift topics.] I hope you've been staying well.
[ he finally sits up properly, grin flickering momentarily as Toriel confides her own loneliness. if he had any confidence in his comforting skills, he'd try.
the one thing he could offer to cheer anyone up, though? jokes. the best fall-back. ]
Hey, there's no shame in feeling bonely. Anyway, you've bumped into me now, right? [ grins guilelessly up at her-- ] I'm keeping it cool here. It's snow problem, if you get my drift.
[ ......... no, it's dangerous and a struggle for survival here, way to go sans. he'll warn her. later. ]
[The series of puns earn a laugh from the boss monster. Loud bleating kind of laugh. Hardly dignified but Toriel doesn't really care.] I see! Good as cold, then!
[ not going to lie, he loves goofy laughter and just snickers into a bony fist at her response. a lack of supplies is nothing compared to lack of joke-offs. ] Hey, I wouldn't flake out of something like that. I'd be on real thin ice with you then, huh?
I'm glad, it wouldn't be ice of you to leave me out in the cold. [Toriel is just relieved they've fallen into this. The familiarity makes her more comfortable than anything.]
I would hardly expect a chilly reception from you of all monsters.

Is this really the best place for a nap, Sans?

then relaxes in possibly a wink. HI TORIEL. ] I don't know about the best place. Haven't slept in too many of these.
But it's got to be up there if I get to wake up to you. [ ... he's not being sappy, it's actually genuine. pun friend--!! ]
