Network Prompts
ONE: IT WON'T BE LONG NOW... Well, you made a mistake. You spent too long searching around, or you ran outside near the end of the day for just one more thing, and now you've been locked out. You can search around all you want, but the best shelter you can hope for is pressing against the side of a sealed up building. You do still have your tablet, though. Maybe someone on the network can give you some advice, or at least some comfort while you wait for hypothermia to set in.
TWO: CABIN FEVER Maybe you didn't want that mistake of getting caught outside to happen again, but now you've ended up staying too long in one location, and cabin fever has set in. Maybe you're taking to the network to try and ignore the hallucinations. Maybe you want to tell everyone that you've figured out they're all in on your kidnapping. Maybe you ended up wandering off and now you'd really like to know if anyone can check back in the place you were at for your pants.
Action Prompts
THREE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING You're going about your business searching what seems like it might be an especially promising house--it's fully intact and there's even a working fireplace with some wood! It looks like someone else has the same idea, though, and you've run into them in the middle of your search. Do you share the potential wealth or try to kick them out? On the other hand, maybe you know who this is, or maybe you're just glad to actually see another person for the first time in ages.
FOUR: GOOD MORGUE-NING You've just woken up in a morgue after dying in one unfortunate way or another. You have no idea where you are beyond that, but your tablet is insisting you can't stay here, so you should probably get out of here pretty quickly. Of course, bringing people back from the dead isn't a perfect science, so you're missing something important to you. Maybe you've lost your voice, maybe you can't remember where you're from, maybe you can't remember where you are right now. It looks like someone else is nearby, though. Maybe they can help you out?
[With the setting of the sun the wind has increased to near gale proportions, whipping powdery snow sideways and decreasing visibility to almost nothing. Even Al is finding it hard to see more than a foot in front of him, and he didn't have human eyes that needed shielding from the barrage of snow.]
IS ANYBODY OUT THERE?!
[His voice sounds weak and high, words snatched by the gale and disappearing. He can almost believe he can hear the taunting laughter of... something... nearby. He sees something move out of the corner of his eye, but it's gone when he turns to look.]
ANYBODY?!
[Maybe this was a foolish idea after all. He only wanted to help anyone who might be lost out in the storm, but he's gone and got himself lost instead. At least there's no worry of freezing to death, and maybe he will come upon someone he can help.]
[He doesn't see her until he's almost right on top of her, the cabin and her half-frozen form suddenly appearing out of the gloom. Her words make him glance behind him, somehow managing to convey worry despite his helmet being incapable of changing expression.]
Um, you too? I thought I saw something back there, but I was kind of hoping I was wrong.
[That is the most fake laughter ever....for some reason? Hope isn't really sure why....oh wait maybe he stole it. That would make sense. Not that she'd blame anyone for stealing armour that keeps you warm here.]
I'd say that's one word for it.
So you're alright to stay out overnight then?
[Says the young woman who is currently freezing to death.]
[He half makes a fist pump to match the enthusiastic tone, before he remembers that the doors are all shut already and all night for him means all night for her too. The air of embarrassed worry disappears at once, melting into concern and something softer.]
But I guess not for you, huh?
[He reaches a hand out towards her.]
Maybe I can help you with that, if you'll let me? I might not be able to get us inside, but I can keep you off the ground and out of the worst of the wind.
[What is it with people and fixating on the armour? Geez, anyone would think that a seven foot plus suit of spiked armour was unusual or something...]
Ha... uh, actually you'd be surprised how little I feel the cold.
[Like not at all, because he has no body, but technicalities. He shifts slowly as he's talking to try and block the worst of the wind from her with his body, being so large has its advantages sometimes.]
[ Her first thought is he might be an enhanced human like her, since she doesn't (usually) feel the cold either, but it's biting at her, and her precognition hasn't kicked in at all. She has no powers. So how's he keeping his? She comes up to him and raps on his chestplate irritably. ]
Really? Because this is [ hold on. that's not a good echo. She raps it again, harder - his armour is hollow. ] — are you a ghost?
[When she first starts rapping on his armour that way he freezes, and not because of the weather. He's just so surprised that within a few seconds of meeting, she's already broken personal boundaries and come within a hairs breadth of uncovering his secrets.]
It sends a pang of melancholy and fear running through him, and twists at his insides. One of his fears is that he is a ghost now, just a spirit bound to the metal and waiting until this body rejects him fully.
It hurts that even a stranger can somehow classify him immediately as something other than human. How can his heart beat so fast when he doesn't even have one?]
[He buries the hurt down as that frozen few moments finally ends, snapping him into movement once more. He leaps backwards and crosses his arms in front of his chest in a large X. His voice is high and panicky, too fast to be natural, and ringing with a nervousness that's almost palpable.]
W-Who, me?! No, that's so silly, of course I'm not a ghost. I'm just a person, a normal, regular, standard kind of person. Haha... ha...
[ Rose lets him retreat, her eye narrowed, predatory. Even after years out of the business, so to speak, she can't shake the habits of an assassin. He's afraid, and deeply. Not because of her specifically, but a nerve she's touched. This is a weak spot. Something she can push on, if needed, and feel something rupture beneath the pressure. She remembers this for later. ]
Okay, fine, whatever. Hi. I'm Rose. I'm a monster.
[ She curves her mouth into a sharp, sharklike smile, lethal etched in its curves. ]
See?
[ She left kindness behind a long time ago. This is the best way she knows of how to say 'if you aren't human, you're not alone'. ]
[He foolishly never considered that his own shouts might incite someone else to try and rescue him, and now he feels a bit guilty. He really hopes that this stranger hasn't put herself in any danger for his benefit... the only small comfort is that she must have been locked out well before he shouted, so he hasn't drawn her out from the warmth.]
No... uh, sorry!
[This is an awkward conversation to be shouting through a snowstorm.]
I was looking for anyone who might be caught out here, are you... are you okay?
[Korra laughs a little, then abruptly sneezes, proving his point. As she rubs at her nose, she grumbles. She shouldn't be feeling the cold so keenly, but without her connection to water, the snow just feels like...well, snow.]
I haven't seen anyone pass by here in hours now. [They're probably all safe inside the buildings, she thinks.] Even if you're wearing that armor, you can't be planning to just walk around the whole night, are you?
[Reminded of the danger, Korra waves a hand at him, beckoning him to follow her.]
I'm trying to make a snow shelter. Want to help? We can wait out the storm together.
[Yotsuba, however, was very much human, and while the wind wasn't picking her up (thankfully), it still felt horribly cold, and she was having trouble keeping her hands warm, since she kept having to pull one out of her sleeves in order to wipe snow out of her eyes or shield them. She'd wanted to find shelter awhile ago, but..she'd forgotten about the time limit and had gotten lost in this blizzard, so she was tired and a bit hungry on top of everything else.
So, while she didn't know who was yelling (and whoever he was, his voice sounded a bit faint), she called back, her teeth chattering.]
Yo-Yotsuba's here!! Where are you?! Who are you?! Are you a good person?!
[Oh no, that sounded like a little kid! Then again, he sounds like a fairly young kid too, so maybe the sound is deceiving, but it still makes his heart beat a bit faster in apprehension.]
Yeah! I'm here to help you, if you're stuck outside then maybe I can make it easier for you! Keep calling and I'll come to you.
[Since moving around would make it harder for this person to find her, Yotsuba stopped moving, even though that caused her legs to feel like ice, since..other than her coat, she had no winter gear. Shorts, sneakers without any socks, and a short-sleeved t-shirt were fine summer items, but they were horrible if one was stuck in a blizzard.
But, for better or worse, Yotsuba was a bit gullible, and since she believed the boy when he heard him yell that he was a good person and here to help, she started singing loudly, so that he could find her.]
Yotsuba's over here, over here!~ Not over there, with the warm curry!~ But here in the snow, snow snow!~ It's super, duper cold, so please help!~ And Yotsuba will help you too!~
[He wasn't expecting to be sung a song, but it works equally as well as shouting to bring him to her location. When he finally sees her, his heart lurches sickeningly. She's so young... and even worse, she's wearing clothes that make him wonder how she's not already suffering frostbite or hypothermia.]
O-Oh!
[He doesn't even think about how he must look looming out of the darkness, he just swoops in to try and scoop her up and out of the ice.]
[Thankfully, Alphonse spoke before he scooped up Yotsuba, so she knew that this was the nice guy who said he would help, so she didn't try to wriggle out of his grasp, but she did cry out, surprised at how cold his metal body was, on top of everything else. Instinctively, she tried to put a hand on his body to steady herself, but that just made things worse.]
Wagh! You're cold too! You're super cold! And why is your body metal?!
[Of course, as she spoke, she kept having to shield her eyes from the snow or wipe it out of them, which didn't do her hands any favors. Under her shoes, her toes were already starting to turn blue.]

[She rubs her arms, trying to get more circulation to them.]
That's some strange armour, does it keep you warm?

Why is the armour the first thing anyone asks about? Why has he not learned to anticipate this by now? Oh no, the silence is stretching...

[The voice comes from his left somewhere, in a break between a few houses. It's sounds tired and strained, but still clings to the some stubbornness.
If he looks there now, Alphonse can see a shape in the snow, walking toward him.]
Do you need help??
[The figure's closer now, and the voice stronger as it calls out to him, as if bolstered by the company.]

[Korra's brows shoot up when she's close enough to see Alphonse. She draws her jacket even more tightly around her as the wind picks up.]
Isn't that heavy?
[And the metal must be freezing by now--not the best kind of material to be wearing out in the cold.]
no subject
[He laughs, high and nervous, and flexes one of his arms like an idiot as if to demonstrate how strong he is.]
Besides, I guess I'm warmer in here than you look in that jacket.
